Synthesis Of Tube Furnace
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject Summary- Introduction:
A tube furnace is an electric heating device used to conduct syntheses and purifications of inorganic compounds and occasionally in organic synthesis.
- Overview:
The shape of the tube furnace is a horizontal cylinder, which is placed on a base made of thin steel plate. The furnace shell is welded by thin steel plates. The studio is a tube furnace made of silicone carbide or aluminum refractory. The outer surface of the furnace is made of spiral single wire groove.
Tube Furnace consists of heating coils embedded in a thermally insulating matrix. The type of tube limits the maximum temperature the furnace can reach. A control panel is used to set the parameters and to display the environment from inside the tube. Temperature can be controlled via feedback from a thermocouple.
- Purpose:
These all-rounders are equipped with a working tube which also serves as support for the heating wires. Thus, the working tube is part of the furnace heating which has the advantage that the furnaces achieve very high heat-up rates. The tube furnaces can be supplied for 1100 °C or 1300 °C.
- Scope:
The tube Furnace is a Furnace that operates regularly which can be used for heating chemical analysis, physical measurements and thermocouple Identification in industrial and mining enterprises, scientific research units, laboratories and workshop.

Applications:
Applications of tube furnaces include the purification, coating, drying, hardening or ageing of samples. Among other uses, a tube furnace can also be used for annealing, brazing, calcination, degassing, sintering, soldering, sublimation, synthesis, and tempering.
- Limitations:
- The applicability to heavy raw materials is still limited. When cracking heavy raw materials, because the heavy raw materials are prone to coking, it is necessary to shorten the operation cycle, reduce the cracking depth, and often light coke, which shortens the effective production time throughout the year and also affects the life of the cracking furnace and furnace tubes. As a result of reducing the cracking depth, the utilization rate of raw materials is not high, the quantity of low-value products such as heavy raw oil is large, and the cost of public works is also increased.
- According to the process requirements of high temperature, short residence time and low hydrocarbon partial pressure, the surface thermal strength of the furnace tube is bound to increase, which requires oil-resistant high-temperature alloy pipe and cast pipe technology.
- There is still a certain limit to the applicability of heavy raw materials.
Typical applications of tube furnaces include the purification, coating, drying, hardening or ageing of samples. Among other uses, a tube furnace can also be used for annealing, brazing, calcination, degassing, sintering, soldering, sublimation, synthesis, and tempering. In a laboratory a tube furnace could be used for thermocouple calibration, in the testing of fuel cells, or in catalyst research.
The intended use of your tube furnace will govern which furnace is most suitable for you. Our tube furnace selection ranges from simple and economical options such as the wire wound single zone tube furnace through to more advanced systems such as the AZ tube furnace, which has eight independently controllable heating zones. The controllable heating zones of the AZ tube furnace allows a temperature gradient to be set for applications such as chemical vapour deposition.
We have design a metal body in which we had fitted a tube. A heating spring is bounded around the tube which is use to heat it. At the one end of the tube heat detector sensor is attached which is use to detect heat. At the bottom of the metal body we have attach a temperature controller .the temperature controller is use to increase or decrease the temperature .heat controlling sheet is bounded around the heating coils which is protect the tube from loss of heat. We have adjust a copper wire which is use to provide a current to the tube furnace. The range of the temperature at which tube furnace is work 1100C to 1300C. Tube furnace are design to contain a work tube or vessel, into which samples can be placed and then heated. The heating elements are positioned around the work tube to optimize temperature distribution.
Benefits of the ProjectTube furnaces are used for a broad range of thermal processes, including: inorganic and organic purification; accelerated aging; annealing; coating; drying; and much more. As a result, they have proven integral in a broad range of heat treatment markets.
The primary reason to use a tube furnace is the unmatched thermal uniformity offered by cylindrical heaters. Components in a single-zone chamber are subjected to consistent heating values exceeding 1000°C (1832°F) across a full 360° axis, which ensures optimal distribution of heat across the full cross-section of the part. This makes tube furnaces ideal for sensitive thermal processing applications, such as thermocouple calibration.
Tube furnaces can also be integrated with multiple heating zones to elevate the processing capabilities of the instrument. This allows a fully-controllable temperature gradient to finely-tune the heat-up and cool down stages of thermal processing. It can also limit peak temperatures to specific areas of interest on a part – typically the central section, which leaves either end safe to handle with additional machinery. This is useful in a range of materials testing applications, enabling accurate characterizations of material mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
Technical Details of Final Deliverablethe material used for the tube carrying freshwater ,cement ,concrete ,sand and plastic paris. The choice of the material depends on either economic appraisal or technical factor, in particular diameter and pressure. The quantity of material depend upon the size of tube . we will use 2kg cement, half kg plastic paris, 1 feet concrete and 1 feet sand. The tube is available in 6’’(152mm), 8’’(203mm), 10’’(305mm) diameter in 4’(1.2M), lengths. The amount of concrete is required for Each size .we will make mixture for the construction of tube . two pipes are used during the construction of tube the diameter of these pipes are 3inch and 5 inch. These pipes are vertically strongly fitted in the earth then we had pouring concrete material in the pipe. When pouring concrete in a hole in the ground the hole is only the form you need. The pour will be stronger if you just pour the concrete straight into the hole. Insert the form tube into the support hole. Slide the tube in the sawed-end down so that the upper end is straight and level. Once you got the tube. Figure out how deep the support needs to sit. Dig a hole for the support . fill the bottom of the hole with 2-6 inches. By using these steps we will design our tube according to our requirements. After making tube we will leave it for dry for two to three days until the material of tube become more and more strong.
