Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryThis project is based on the design and fabrication of a machine that determines what levels of combined bending and torsion loads can cause failures in materials i.e., recycled cold drink cans.
The specimen would be manufactured by mixing different ratios of recycled cold drink cans and engine blocks by using the sand-casting process.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives for this project are:
1. Study of mechanical properties of recycled cold drink cans.
2. Design and fabricate the machine that fulfills the need of the laboratory to test the mechanical properties of the material under combined bending and torsion loading.
3.The cross-section of the specimen would be both rectangular and circular.
4.The machine would be equipped with sensors that convert forces into a corresponding electrical signal to show the results on the screen.
5.The specimen also be analyzed by using simulation software like ANSYS.
Project Implementation Method1. First of all designing of the project on Solidwoks.
2. Now casting the specimens of mechanical testing machine.
3. Fabrication of combined bending and torsion machine.
4. Testing the machine.
5. Compare the results with Ansys Software.
