Project Summary

Drone light shows take the wonders of drone technology, blending art and science to create an entirely new form of nighttime display and entertainment. With dynamic, 3D animations and brilliant color combinations, each Led drone serves as a pixel to light up and paint the night sky for an amazing experience. Choreographed to music and with the ability to be integrated with other live entertainment elements, the drone light shows feature numerous pre-programmed led drones that are sure to dazzle audiences.

Conventional Night Sky Light Shows are eco-unfriendly and unsustainable. Fireworks are unpredictable and cause a substantially high amount of injuries. Traditional methods of Night Sky Light Shows also use non-renewable resources which are not eco-efficient. Drone light shows differ from fireworks displays because drones are reusable, and do not produce chemical and noise pollution. But contemporary drone lights shows are exceedingly costly and unreasonably overpriced for the countries in the Pacific region. Our implementation and strategy can reduce this cost significantly according to the requirements of Pacific Asian region.

Imitating the way certain groups of animals work together, swarm intelligence leverages AI to plan the activities of hundreds if not thousands of robots, allowing drones to collectively achieve larger, more complex tasks. Currently, collaborative robots are trained by humans. While communicating with the central headquarter (i.e. the computer system) the drone shall receive their instructions on how to operate as a swarm while having their stand-alone flying and intelligence capabilities intact on the other hand. After the orientation of the drones are provided the software will position each drone accordingly and control their movement and lighting automatically during the entire show as programmed to

Project Objectives

STARLIT is Pakistan's first Drones Light Show that aims to step-up the game of Events and Exhibition through a spectacular eye-catching holographic display of luminous drones forming an aesthetic view in the night sky.

Project Implementation Method

Development / Research Methodology:

The methodology used for the implementation of STARLIT will be the Waterfall model. The main feature of this model is that when an improvement level is completed, work would
commence on the next one. At the end of each stage, a review is undertaken in order to determine if the project is going in the right direction or it should be discarded.

Waterfall (First original model of SDLC)

The main feature of this model is that when an improvement level is completed, work would

Selected Methodology: This methodology is suitable for the project considering the fact that its requirements are easy to understand and are well suited for smaller projects since the time span for the project happens to be short.
This methodology is also suitable considering the fact that testing would be accordingly done. Also, this methodology is suitable for smaller projects since according to most developers, it is easier to follow.

Phase 1: Plan (3 weeks approx.)

  • The problem statement is evaluated thoroughly.

  • The context of the problem was developed by the team. What is the problem that needs to be fixed? The Gap was figured out.

  • Parties involved; the stakeholders, the various users, and people involved in developing the project.

  • The process was developed (May have some changes as the project progresses).

Phase 2: Concept of Operations (3-4 weeks approx.)

  • This process was started in conjunction with the Planning phase.

  • Requirements were derived from the CON-OPS.

  • Additional requirements may be added later on.

Phase 3: Design and Testing ( 5- 6 weeks approx.)

  • The longest phase in the design process. This contains the critical path for our project.

  • It is the most important phase as mistakes, errors can be looked into and corrected.

  • A Simulation model will be built and improved through repetition.

Phase 4 : Sensitivity and Utility/Cost (3- 4 weeks approx.)

  • Testing of whether or not our experiments and simulation work

  • Their correctness, their overall value.

  • May have to re-design models and conduct testing again based on results.

Phase 5: Analysis of System ( 3-4 weeks).

  • Trade-off analysis and policy analysis are conducted wrt entire project.

  • Initial time required. After that it will be ongoing.

Phase 6: Presenting

Benefits of the Project

Drones are an amazing invention with very little downsides and huge upside potential. The possibilities of its applications are endless. We have always been curious about the things we can achieve with the drone technology if put to use effectively. The idea that has fascinated us the most is when the drones are capable of working as a team. Ongoing projects on drone technology involve military, agriculture, entertainment, travelling, scientific and surveillance applications.

Our project is set to dominate the events and entertainment industry soon. Just like the great revolution by technology in every other domain, drone light shows are revolutionizing the events and exhibitions sector across the globe. Many regions like Pakistan have relatively lower budgets for events so drone light shows are not feasible before. Starlit will be offering drone light shows according to the feasibility of these regions in affordable pricing. This will be done through local assembling and creating our own drone show software which may not be as efficient initially but will definitely exceed expectations over the course of time yet it will be affordable from the beginning.

National, Private and Public Celebrations, Corporate events and Exhibitions, Music concerts, Sports events, Festivals, Ceremonies and other occasions will follow this amazing new trend to stand out and unravel their true potential by dazzling their audience.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • The final deliverables of the project are following

  • STARLIT (Lightshow Drone)
  • STARLIT Drone Control Software
  • Wi-Fi Router
  • RC GPS Base Station
  • The project includes a drone that has a built-in LED light lamp capable of generating more than 1million color combination and can fly according to the provided plan by the Drone Control Software. The computer system with the STARLIT Drone Control Software and the RC GPS Base Station will be inter-connected to the Wi-Fi router. The Drone(s) will be connected to the RC GPS Base Station. The software will initially connect the drones and tell if they are in their appropriate positions. Once, the environment is setup the operator will start the show from the computer system and the drone(s) will operate as instructed by the software.
