Soft starting of induction motor using ANN based controller
Induction motor starts with very high inrush current which can damage its insulation and it can cause voltage dip in the system so I have implemented an inrush current limiting technique which can start the motor softly. After implementing this circuit, motor reaches its rated speed gradually and softly. This technique is implemented through ANN (Artificial Neural Network) Controller. ANN is comprised of three layers such as input layer, hidden layer and output layer. Through the training process of ANN program, we can design ANN based controller which can start the motor softly.
The main component of this project is Arduino Nano which is coded with Trained ANN Program. Single Phase Induction motor takes reduced inrush current through this project by performing relay switching after some instant. It implements zero crossing detector which detects when the sine wave crosses zero amplitude thus providing signal pulse to the TRIAC which in return controls the voltage therefore desired current flows through the circuit.
The final prototype uses Arduino Nano which is a microcontroller acting as a brain of project. It uses opto isolators for the zero crossing which signals the thyristors. Relay is also used for the automatic switching purpose.
