The idea is to build an app which allows user to recognise food items using their phone camera.

Project Objectives

The main objective of this project is to build an app that helps people to recognise what they are eating, in terms of nutritional value, in real-time. especially those people who are conscious about their weight and like to be careful with what they eat.

Project Implementation Method

I plan to use the Keras API provided by Tensorflow to practise my model with lots of food images. But it will tell you what food item it is when a user takes a screenshot of a food product in the app. Of course, it will be difficult to identify mixtures of related food items, such as cheeseburger or fillet burger, but I plan to get as far as I can with this. For further modifications, I will issue changes to the programme for a better-qualified model so that it continues to improve.

Benefits of the Project

Users will be able to know what they are eating and its nutritional value. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The presumed result is that most food objects will be recognised and if it recognises anything that it can not identify, it will allow the consumer to tell him what the dish is. This is the ideal scenario but in case I cannot train my model in real-time due to device constraints, it will tell the user it doesn’t know that dish.
