One of the most crucial sectors of today’s world is the agricultural sector. The agricultural sector consists of many industries, and one of those industries is the poultry industry. The poultry industry of the agricultural sector is a crucial industry that provides a cheap source of meat to the masses. But with that being said, the poultry industry is not without its problems. The problems that poultry farms face today are disease, the amount of physical activity required to take care of poultry flocks, and the fact that, at times, some members of the flocks don’t have access to nutrition or a means to hydrate themselves. The aim of this project is to facilitate poultry farms by presenting them with an affordable IoT solution that ensures that the poultry is living within an environment that is clean to prevent any sort of disease outbreak, has access to food and water, and that the temperature inside the compartment remains constant at all times so that the poultry flock(s) isn’t disturbed in any shape or form. In addition, the solution ensures that the user is constantly being made aware of the living conditions of his flock(s) through the use of an online database that is using a webhook to retrieve sensor data from the microcontrollers.

In today’s world, one of the leading industries within the agricultural sector is the poultry industry. According to the California Poultry Federation, the poultry industry alone produces an annual profit of 2.5 billion US dollars. In addition, it is one of the many agricultural industries of the world on which the world is heavily reliant mainly due to poultry itself being a cheaper method of obtaining nutrition for people in comparison to other sources of nutrition such as mutton and beef. The main goal of this project is to provide a form of convenience that makes it easier for poultry farms to raise chickens by enhancing parts of the husbandry process through the use of automation.

While the poultry industry is a very profitable industry, it isn’t without its problems. The process of feeding, cleaning, and looking after poultry is one which is very tedious and a single mistake could potentially cause something as severe as the entire flock dying from a disease outbreak whose signs weren’t noticed or something less fatal, but still capable of causing harm to the flock such as malnutrition due to unequal distribution of feed and water. These aforementioned problems mainly arise due to the process being heavily reliant on human interaction.

Project Objectives

The main aim and objective of this project are to provide a convenience for the poultry industry that would rid of any problems that come with raising poultry by utilizing sensors and actuators that minimize the amount of human interaction needed thus providing an automated management system for poultry.

Project Implementation Method     METHODOLOGY:-

•Temperature and humidity sensors will be used to monitor the internal temperature of the compartment along with an air quality sensor to ensure the air within the compartment isn’t hazardous.

•Depending on the readings of the sensors, the heater or cooling system will be turned on via a relay.

•Through the use of a timer, chickens will be fed on a daily basis.

•A conveyor belt will be used to escort out all the filth being dropped from the bottom of the compartment.

•The conveyor belt will be cleaned via an electronic spray gun interfaced with a microcontroller.

Benefits of the Project BENEFIT OF THE PROJECT:-

The benefit of this project is that it will eliminate every bit of human effort that comes with maintaining poultry flocks. This project makes the poultry industry ensures that the flocks don’t suffer from disease and malnutrition. Moreover, our project benefits in cleaning and feeding as System automatically cleans, feeds, and keeps the flock in a stable environment. Furthermore, our project will benefit in maintaining the records of flocks as the System builds a database of information regarding the poultry flock to keep the farm owner informed of the conditions of his flock. This system can easily be controlled and managed through IoT.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable is that the output that we hope to achieve is to convert the whole poultry farm system into an automated system. It will help in reducing the amount of human interaction required in poultry farms. Through this, farm owners can easily manage their farms from anywhere in the world requiring little to no need for them to visit their poultry farms.
