Finding a vacant parking space during peak hours is very difficult in areas such as hospitals, hotels & shopping centers, airports, universities, and exhibition & convention centers.

The growth in population results in issues associated with residential parking as well as commercial. This technology decreases the amount of time spent by the user to find out the vacant parking slot and automates the process of searching for the optimal parking spot. Therefore, it creates a huge demand for the smart parking market. It is getting harder for vehicle users to find an available parking lot. When drivers try to find a parking space, they can cause confusion in traffic and increase their carbon emissions.

The development of technology not only helps humanity in many matters but also helps in finding parking spaces. The application we aim to develop finds the closest parking spaces to the drivers and saves the drivers from the complex process they are in. This system will play an important role in the cities of the future.

Parking inefficiency has been a common metropolitan area issue in Lahore. With the crowd and busy traffic as well as vehicle overcrowding and a demand for a more efficient smart parking system, our company aims to start from a busy downtown Lahore area and estimate our main market size based on the lower mainland We will get first-hand technology information, experienced personnel and fast-changing market indication with this premier location to support our first-stage growing period.

Due to the region's characteristics, Smart Parking targets working professionals as our key customer segment. With high exposure to high-tech products, we believe our smart parking application will appeal to them.

Moreover, busy-scheduled working professionals highly value time and convenience which are primary aspects in line with our value proposition.

Smart parking is an application that helps people to solve parking issues by using real-time parking data and GPS technology.

Its main purpose is to improve parking efficiency, optimize the use of available spaces and minimize the impact of parking on traffic and the environment. With the implementation of big data and intelligent algorithms, we dedicate ourselves to providing our users with an enjoyable and less stressful parking experience.

  • No need to handle any parking tokens.
  • Introduce new technology to overcome the daily life problem through smart parking.
  • To save working people time using pre-parking plans.

Project Implementation Method

Firstly, our project is mobile application-based plus hardware. Our application provides the easiest way to find a parking spot. There are google maps shown on our home screen of the application which shows the available and nearest parking spots to you. After when customers book parking spots from a map through their vehicle number our application finds the shortest path to reach the parking goal. After reaching that particular parking area there is a proper automatic scanning system which is introduced by us. capture the image of car number plates and check whether this vehicle has a booking or not. If it has a book then open the barrier and save the entry time of that vehicle. When the time of exit the system again scans the plates checking the entry time of that vehicle and then shows the parking bill on the application. The camera will capture the image of the number plate and then send it to a raspberry pi 4 which is a mini-computer. After that, raspberry pi extracts the digits from the number plate of the vehicle and then checks if there is any booking against that digits. If exist then it sends a notification to the user application and shows their parking details like Entry and Exit time Total bill to park the vehicle.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • Our application suggests using parking spots while looking around to find a spot to park a vehicle. Suppose a person parks his car in raiwind in our registered places, when that person is again looking for parking in raiwind our application recommends that where he last parked. For that feature, our application uses a Content-Based Recommendation System.
  •   Finding the nearest place to park a vehicle is a particular feature. Our application uses Google's map API for maps and uses AI searching algorithms like Dijkstra Algorithm to find the shortest path.
  •  When our user books a place for parking by their car number plate it stores that information and sends that particular parking system where our user parks.
  • At that parking place, there is a proper automated parking system that scans the number plate of a vehicle and checks bookings. In this particular feature, we use Image processing to scan number plates for open or closed barriers.
  • Dynamic pricing strategy according to the area according to rating.
  • When the user leaves the parking system again, scan the number plate and send a notification to the application which is on the user's phone.
  • After that, the application shows the amount which the user should be paid.
  •  Users can pay online as well
