Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThis project “The SMART MOVEABLE POUBELLE by using Raspberry Pi for solving waste problems in a metropolitan city” is a very innovative system which will help to keep the cities clean. This system monitors the garbage bins and informs about the level of garbage collected in the garbage bins via mobile application, for this, the system uses ultra-sonic sensor placed over the bins to detect the garbage level and compare it with the level of the garbage bin’s depth, the system is powered by a solar panel and battery. During day time the solar panel will charge the battery and run the whole system and at night the battery will be used as a backup. We are using a map in order to navigate the waste bin from one place to another. When the bin is full a message will be generated and it will automatically move to the targeted location. For the movement of the waste bin we are using DC gear motors. The SMART MOVEABLE POUBELLE is a creative way of showing people that when garbage disposal is less practiced there can be a robot that will appear and remind them of the trash that they should dispose of. Moreover, the robot will also be mindful of receiving excess garbage and will avoid receiving more.
Project ObjectivesThe Project objectives include:
- To design and build a prototype for an automatic open dustbin that can automatically open the lid when it detects the people who want to throw out their trash. Once the bins are full then user will not be able to access the bins. In such circumstances the bin displays a message of that sorry! The bin is full on LCD.
- To offer power saving for sensor we are using PIR Sensor (Passive Infrared Sensor). This sensor will controls power of the sensors(ultrasonic)
- Solar power system greatly reduces the manpower, saves time and operates efficiently without human interference. This system overcomes the major drawback of plug-in type charging. It night the battery will be used as a backup.
- A map will be embedded with the mobile application in order to monitor the location of the bin.
- When the bin start to move to the targeted location it will buzzer till it reaches the targeted area and emptied. It will come back to its original place after being empty.
We have 2 Bin which are Empty .The Bin 1 is Medium and Bin 2 is full, it'll send information to the User. When the bin 2 if full the ultra-sonic sensors will transmits the signal to the raspberry pi and it will give command to the motor to move and reach the targeted area and the bin will self-navigate to the targated place. After reaching to the targeted place and disposing the bin it will come back to is location. It is the end user choice either it empties the bin or parks the bin at the targeted area.The LCD displays the status of the garbage like USE ME or THE BIN IS FULL.The solar panel is used for charging purpose and during day time it will also take part in the function of the bin and in night the battery will be used as backup for the bin.

The SMART MOVEABLE POUBELLE will help in live monitoring of the Bin and will also send message to the user regarding the status of the bin. Moreover it will reduce the time, money and human effort for emptying the bin by traveling from one area to another.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- Respberry Pi
It will communicate with the sensor,motors and other hardware components and also transfer data to the mobile application.

It will measures and reports on velocity, orientation and gravitational forces, using a combination of an accelerometer, gyroscope and a magnetometer.

It will control the speed of the motor

Solar panel will be used for charging the battery

It will be used as a backup in night.

It will sense the sense the presence of a person
