We are proposing to develop a Smart Mini greenhouse to meet challenges of food security during climate change. The system will monitor and take appropriate action based on air temperature, humidity and soil moisture in the greenhouse. To keep plants healthy, farmers can monitor their plants through a mobile applications. The sensors will send real-time data to a server through a Wi-Fi module and farmers will be notified about any issues with plants and environment through user-friendly mobile application. The farmer can take knowledge-based decision to keep environment of mini greenhouse suitable for crops by turn on water cooling fans if the humidity level starts to decrease from a certain level. A partition will be created to maintain temperature and humidity level according to requirements of specific crop.

Project Implementation Method

A real time monitoring system which check the temperature and humidity level of the crop and notify the user through android application. If temperature increases user can start cooling fans to control temperature and if dehydration occurs user can also prevent the dehydration through water pumps and water showers. For this purpose a hardware system is designed to detect the temperature of the crop and environment, and humidity level of the crop. The output of the system obtained from the sensors and processors collaboration through Android application is in Digital form. A network using Wi-Fi technology can transmit the information of sensor module to another location. The proposed system is used to measure the temperature and humidity level of crop and dehydration prevention in plants. Implementation of an efficient Plant dehydration prevention and Crop Monitoring system using Internet of Things (IOT). System includes Internet of Things (IOT); Embedded computing system; Node MCU; Android studio Software; smart environment. Here the sensing devices are connected to the embedded computing system to monitoring the fluctuation of parameters like temperature, humidity and moisturization levels from their normal levels. This model is adaptable and distributive for any infrastructural environment that needs continuous monitoring, controlling and behavior analysis. The working performance of proposed model is evaluated using prototype implementation, consisting of Node MCU, breadboards, water pumps, sensors devices and android studio. The implementation is tested for above parameters like temperature, humidity and moisturization with respect to their normal behavior level or given specifications which provide a control over crop monitoring to make the farming smart.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We propose a smart mini greenhouse that allows us to monitor and check real time data and to control its fluctuation through mobile application.

This system contain Node MCU which is the basic microcontroller and humidity and temperature sensor which detect the humidity level in the air and also check the temperature of the crops and the environment. We have also used soil moisturization sensor which check the moisture level of the soil. All these sensors shows the real time data on an android mobile application which is connected with the hardware through the Wi-Fi. If the level of temperature increases in surroundings or in crops it automatically give a notification to the user that temperature level increase from its normal level and user can maintain the temperature of the environment by starting cooling fans with just one click on the android application sitting anywhere in the world for this process cooling fans are also used. If the dehydration occurs in the crop than it will also notify the user and user will start the water pumps and water showers to prevent the dehydration into crops for this process waters pumps are used. This system has features for the user to monitor the amount of above parameters on their mobile phones using the application. Configuration of sensors done through Android STUDIO For Android App. We configured the sensors in such a way that it gives us the understandable values.
