A computer numerical control (CNC) machine is a computer-controlled cutting and engraving machine related to the hand-held router used for cutting various hard materials, such as wood, aluminum, steel, acrylic, glass, and foams in order to design the wished patrons and sculptors on them. CNC routers can perform the tasks of many carpentry shop machines such as Door Design etc.
Project ObjectivesTo engrave any designs such as logos, interior design on wood and acrylic.
It will also used in laboratory for trainig purpose i.e. (hands on practicles).
Project Implementation MethodThe first step in the operation of CNC machine was calibrating the tool, it was aimed to know whether the stepper motor and any other system were working according to the program that has been configured. Followed by setting the starting position of the spindle drill on the CNC machine using Universal G-code Sender software both automatically and manually by hand spinning. Spindle drill speed can be set up to a maximum speed of 12000 rpm (rotation per minute). After the CNC machine is calibrated, the design with the G-code extension format was uploaded using Universal G- code Sender to Arduino Uno with serial communication. The microcontroller will read the data as a command and provide logic to the motor driver. The data received by the motor driver was used to drive Nema 23 X, Y and Z axis stepper motors, so that a pattern will be formed on the object.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benifits of the project is that it is very much cost effective and light in weight, which facliates portability of machine.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe Expected Result of this FY project well work and able to use for crafting on woods.This includes interior design also called Engraving and outer shaped-out design also referred as Carving.Pakistan will not need to import these machines from foreign countries which costs much .
