Project Summary

The scope and main functionalities of this project is the following.
This application will allow users to continue monitor the living and enviromental conditions of the cattle.
Through real time monitoring we can also detect any illness or disease.
We will be able to increase milk production in cows by providing them ideal conditions.
It's basically a combination of hardware and software which will prevent the widely spread of masstits disease among cattles which reduces thier milk production and also thier life expectancy.

Project Objectives

Each cow is equipped with a digital bracelet or

pedometer which identifies the Holstein, measures how much milk was produced at each

milking, provides data about the cows’ activity by recording the number of steps per hour,

identifies conductivity levels of the milk which are indicators of the presence of infections or

possible ruptured cells in the udder and the duration period for the udder to be drained . The subsequent data is managed by software which allows each cow to be monitored

for its overall health and levels of production in ways that previously were impossible.

Readings that signal changes in the Holstein’s normal patterns allow the farmer to accurately

predict the needs of each cow.

Project Implementation Method

Sensors for maintaining water quality:

  • To maintain appropriate pH level: There are three main series of differential sensors that one can you use to measure pH level in water  which include the SD7000 series, the SD7420 series, and the SD7500 series.

  • To maintain appropriate salinity:  The Salinity sensor is designed to measure the salinity of liquids and solutions and is capable of measuring the entire range of 24-52,000 ppm (parts per million). Salinity is one of the most basic tests conducted in solutions. It determines the total concentration of salts in a sample.

  • For maintaining ORP: The Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) Sensor measures the ability of a solution to act as an oxidizing or reducing agent. We use ORP Sensor to measure the oxidizing ability of chlorine in water or to determine when the equivalence point has been reached in an oxidation-reduction reaction.

Sensors for maintain Air Quality:

  • For measuring the  ppm concentration of CO2    we will use the K30 10,000ppm CO2 Sensor.

  • Temperature and humidity sensors—which could provide the data for a continuous compensation algorithm to improve the accuracy of an air quality sensor’s output.

To access the information from a portal a suitable smartphone or laptop is required with an internet connection.

Software Interfaces

Some of the software interfaces and version requirements are the following.

Web application will be accessible through any suitable browsers. The website will develop using react and Xmapp.

Communications Interfaces

Internet Protocol (IP) shall be used by the software interfaces to connect to the internet, meanwhile sensors while be connected through appropriate libraries to transmit data to the cloud.
