Smart Cold Chain
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryAccording to the WHO, up to 85% of vaccines are damaged by temperature fluctuations in the crucial 'last mile' of their journey. Technology will allow us to transport these life-saving vaccines using state-of-the-art technology. In Pakistan a lot of cases of the ineffectiveness of vaccines are reported, the temperature being responsible for the ineffectiveness of the vaccines. Mainly the cold chain is broken during the final stages of transportation by health workers, especially in the hotter region. This is an urgent global health issue and should be resolved instantly. Also, to make a mobile app for data analysis. This project aims to design and develop an innovative vaccine box with advanced control features, improved effectiveness and high-quality material that can serve for a prolonged period without any deterioration. Furthermore, the introduction of the internet of things (IoT) will prove to be an extravagant feature of this device to improve its performance and make it more user-friendly.
Project ObjectivesFollowing are major objectives
- To make a 3-D model of die in software and test the model using finite element analysis (FEA).
- To make a prototype of dying as per design calculation.
- Die fabrication & design.
- To make a working prototype of a smart vaccine box.
- To fabricate a smart vaccine box.
- To test and do analysis on fabricated smart vaccine box
The Project Implementation method is discussed below
- Customer identification
- Problem Definition
- Conceptual Design
- Geometric Model
- Engineering Analysis
- Fabrication of Smart Vaccine Box
- Testing
Key benefits of the prototype are:
- A vaccine can be transported to remote locations with higher environmental temperatures easily.
- The vaccine never spoils.
- No health and safety issues to living beings.
- People’s trust in vaccines restored.
- Pakistan will finally be able to counter the Polio Virus.
- Elimination of various diseases in livestock
