Smart Car
Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject SummaryA smart car is actually a group of systems that are installed in any car including the Lane Departure Warning System, blind-spot monitoring system, and anti-collision system which is an effective way to prevent road accidents and ensure vehicle safety. These systems will be using different sensors including IR (Infrared) and ultrasonic sensors. Blind-spot monitoring and lane departure warning systems will use IR sensors while the anti-collision systems will use the ultrasonic sensor. This system will be simply plug-and-play. This system will warn and assist drivers thru audible and visual warnings. This system will be controlled through the android application which is integrated with this smart car.
Project ObjectivesPrevent accidents
Assist driver
Awake driver if he/she slept
Aftermarket availability
Low cost
Project Implementation MethodA Lane departure warning system will detect the lanes and as cars drift out of the lane system will warn through an audible and visual warning which will awake the driver.
Blind-spot monitoring will detect the car in the adjacent lane and will warn the driver through visual warning.
The anti-collision system will detect any vehicle or non-vehicle object at a specific distance and slows down the car's speed and as the car moves closer to the object it slows down the car and stops the car at a specific distance from the object.
Benefits of the ProjectThe lane departure warning system quickly alerts the driver if their vehicle should cross over the line dividing lanes, thereby helping to avoid an accident.
The biggest benefit of blind-spot monitoring is safer lane changes.
Anti-Collision systems use ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles and help drivers safely navigate roads and highways.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableESP32 is a series of low-cost, low-power systems on a chip microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth.
An infrared sensor (IR sensor) is a radiation-sensitive optoelectronic component.
Ultrasonic sensors mimic echolocation used by bats, transmitting high-frequency sound waves to gauge the distance between objects within close range.
A motor driver takes the low-current signal from the controller circuit and amps it up into a high-current signal, to correctly drive the motor.
A direct current (DC) motor is a type of electric machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.
