Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryA smart Car Parking system is based on Internet of Things and commanded by an android application using IR Sensors that helps automatically find free parking space based on the parameters of performance that makes the system cost and time efficient. The parking's lots which are available should be sensed and can be updated on Server and so that every user connected with the Server can identify free parking slots in a specific location. On the other hand, user can easily find the location and track the specific parking lot to easily reach and book the require slot too. This will reduce the time to stuck in a que and park the car without any chaos. More efficient but costly and time saving, where there are advantages, disadvantages are there too. So the Basic design and our aim to achieve the goal in this report is to manipulate the system with sensors and RFID tags, Android app which will enhance the user requirement that is time saving smart and efficient.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective for this project is to reduce long ques of parking in our daily life. Parking issues can be reduced at much higher rate and burden on the roads can be eliminated. Thus, saving the time of the people. To create a garage efficient by using efficient management and to enhance the security with simplified Parking system and least amount of space to avoid chaos and ques.

We can implement this system with further more advancement and extra features in android application. By adding a GPS feature will allocate your location and a tracking system through your car. Your data will be continuously shown in the mobile app like vehicle tracking system. To make it wider and on industrial scale, large amount and good quality of high range sensors can be used. Even using a camera with Vehicle Reg. no recognition can be added too so that only registered cars can be entered into the parking area etc
Otherwise we can make it more secure for car which are not registered by checking through the scanners and Image recognition software. Use of cameras and metal detectors on the entrance part. Use of Dot matrix Display and increasing the range of RF transmitter used here for the detection of slots
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- For this task we had to make sure that whenever a car with the RF ID arrives near the entrance of the parking slot, its barrier should open automatically and let the car come inside. RFID entrance is highly secure too, it will access your slot when your RFID number will match with the database in the Arduino or webserver.
- IR sensors will help us detect if the particular parking slot is empty or occupied. As soon as the car enters the slot, IR sensors detect the presence of it and change the status of that parking slot to reserved, this data is saved and the next coming car gets next parking available. This programming is also done on the Software Arduino
- Role of GSM in our project is to communicate with an SPMS (Smart Parking Management System) and a user. Here, if the person is not an android user he/she will ask the SMPS about the available slot. User will send a text message and the sms will be received at a checkpoint of SMPS. Receiver will get the contact no and send it back to the same number, information about the available slots.
- Main aim of our project to make it smart and efficient is to design an android application though which user will be facilitated from variety of features. First of all user will be Signup into the form with some important info based on relevant requirements needed for project. Then user will login to the account within a mobile database stored information. This will allow that specific user only to reserve the slot if available or not. User will get to know by checking slots availability though a web server. Web server will indicate that which slot is empty/ reserved. Empty slot will be reserved by simply clicking the button stored in app [SLOT 1]. After the user reserved that slot, a clock timer will start to calculate the fare, its time, and the parking slot number. At the end slot will be allocated when it’ll reach the checkpoint by showing its RFID card. And user will able to park the car at its specific slot.
- Ethernet shield is programmed into the Arduino Board with which we can access the server through a specific IP. For e.g. every equipment like camera has a specific IP to get access through it so that user can easily come to know what’s happening where camera is connected. We will get the IP address already stored in an Android app and user will get access into the webserver to check for the available slots. These slots will further can be reserved through reservation option in android app so we can easily get to the parking area and park the car on that specific slot. With the help of Ethernet shield it will be better option to control any home appliances remotely or through your internet. Ethernet Shield must be connected with the same router and the Ethernet E-CAT cable. User must be connected to the server with the same IP address. IP address will be allocated inside arduino and android app too. Server won’t work if user is connected to other router and Ethernet webserver is connected to other one.
