Every person in the world has some valuable assets such as jewellery, gold, or in the form of cash. Bank lockers are normally used to place the tangible valuable items. In this project, an expert system is proposed to improve the security of bank lockers and prevent it from illegal actors.

The proposed system is based on Internet of Things (IoT) and image processing. The system will authorize the person based on Iris and finger print recognition. In case of any illegal attempt on bank locker, the system will automatically inform the concerned person and the security guard.

As compared to traditional locker system, the proposed security system is based on Iris and finger print of person, hence, there will be no headache for person to carry locker key. This will also overcome the issues of key theft or key duplication. As compared to traditional bank locker system the proposed system will provide access to genuine customer only. By using this technique a secure and better advance banking secure system can be achieved. Currently state-of-the-art techniques, are based on password, identification cards, and PIN, which are not secured and can be easily misused. There is the enhance demand of security systems which come up with the biometric security technique to improve the security process.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

First of all Image Acquisition is performed. The iris recognition process start with acquisition of image. Image acquisition is a method which concern with the capturing of iris image of a high quality with the help of a digital camera so the that image will be in high quality. Capturing a high quality image is biggest challenge in the process of iris recognition system. It is very important to acquire a sufficient resolution iris image. Image must have sufficient sharpness to support the recognition. It is important to have image with good contrast in iris pattern without any disturbance in the image. Image must be framed well so that it can easily be recognized and its pattern can be made. For this purpose image enhancement techniques will applied. After the image acquisition  the Iris Localization process will applied. By using the process of Iris localization we delimits the iris from the rest of the image acquired. Iris recognition process is the process of a person recognizing by the analysis of  iris random pattern. Iris scan uses the unique characteristic features of iris in the human eye in order to verify an individual.

In parallel to Iris recognition process, finger print will be captured and then will be tested for the individual. The person will be allowed to access the bank locker, if both the Iris and finger print matched by the expert classier.

In case of misplacing the bank locker the motion sensor will be activated, that will prevent the stealing or any other misuse of the locker.

Benefits of the Project

The system will provide high level of security on the basis of person recognition to access its bank locker. It is scalable and can be easily deployed within other organization as well. Pattern of iris and finger remain same throughout an individual’s life, therefore the system will be more secure and reliable. IoT technology will be used, there the system will be very instant and fast responsive. It will overcome the problems of pin forgot and password misuse.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Finally, the proposed system will provide an efficient real time bank locker security system. The system is based on biometric and IoT. The Iris and finger prints will captured by Iris scanner and finger print reader. These information will transferred at real time to Raspberry board. Then the data will be tested by a trained classifier. The classifier will be trained on the basis of deep learning and transfer techniques. On the basis of the expert classifier’s decision, the bank locker will perform action accordingly. In case of un authorized access to the locker the expert system will inform the bank manager and other security person.

The proposed system will require iris scanner, finger print reader, Raspberry PI 4, Video Graphics Card, and sensors (i-e Alarm Motion Detector). Iris scanner and finger reader will be used to scan person biometric data. Raspberry board is used to make communication between IoT devices. The motion sensor will be used in case of misplacing or stealing the locker.
