Project Title

Smart Agriculture System

Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summary

Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan. 62% of Pakistan economy based on agriculture (www.finance.gov.pk › survey › chapter_10 › 02_Agriculture). Pakistan exports the high-quality Rice, Kinnow and Mangoes to Oman, UAE, Kenya, Thailand, Jordan and many other countries. Pakistan produces the best quality basmati rice. This year Pakistan has exported 2.59 million metric tons of rice in total which has the value of 1.224 billion US$. The big farmers of Pakistan can import the latest machinery and hire agriculturist to increase their production. The SAS is a complete package to guide the small farmers of the country to enhance their productivity with minimum utilization of the resources. The purpose of the SAS is to guide the farmers with latest cultivation techniques, latest seeds, fertilizers and pesticides information and also guide them with government policies and funding schemes with benefits the farmers of the country. AS is providing the platform for the government organization and private organization to reduce the gap between the farmers. The government organization will provide the financial information to the farmers which will benefit the farmers to increase their productivity. The private organization will be able to add their goods in the portal which will be seen by farmers will product is better for their crops. The farmer will be able to control the water resources by using our irrigation monitoring module by using IoT. This will help them to keep an eye on the amount of water used by the crops and water is only supplied when they need it. The system will be developed in Open Source Technologies. The Front end of the web portal will be developed in HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT and BOOTSTRAP. Whereas, back end business logic would be developed in JavaScript using NODE.JS framework and database would be structured in Firebase.

The app will be developed in FLUTTER using Dart language and database would be structured in Firebase.

SAS app will be connected with rasberry pi and rasberry pi will be connected with different sensors (water sensor, moisture sensor, humidity sensor).

All of the mentioned technologies are amazing to produce a bespoke web-based application and apps without much difficulty and it's easy to customize.

Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to reduce the gap between the Organization and Buyers. The other main objective is to provide a complete solution so that stakeholder involved find no chance to divert to another solution to fulfil its needs. Another main objective of this project is to guide the farmers about the latest cultivation methods, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and machinery. The farmer will be able to detect the disease of crops by using his smartphone without going to the doctor. We will make the farmer fully aware of the latest technology which is adopted by the rest of the world to support themselves by increasing their productivity. In last our main objective is to save the water that is wasted in the agriculture we will provide the irrigation monitoring system by using the sensors which will provide the full control about the uses of water in the fields to the farmers on their smartphone.

Project Implementation Method

SAS would be a web based and Android based system. To develop the portal we will use these technologies like HTML5, CSS3, BOOTSTRAP and JAVASCRIPT and to perform the backend functionality we will use node.js (Google Cloud function). The App of our system will be developed in Flutter (Google framework used to developed hybrid Apps) and database will be firebase. We will use google translator API to convert text from English in to Urdu. We will use ML kit which is provided by firebase for disease detection. We will use OPENWEATHERWAP Api to check the weather updates.

5.2 Best Practices / Coding Standards

Bootstrap framework which provides set of template and core libraries that contain predefined scripts as best practices for the development. Use of these libraries makes “SAS” responsive, modifiable and reliable.

Node.js framework which provides set of core libraries that contain predefined scripts which makes easier to interact with the firebase.

Flutter framework will help us to make hybrid app which will run on both platform i.e. Android and IOS.

5.3 Deployment Environment

Web portal will be deployed at web server like HTTP.

App will be deployed at Google Play Store.

5.4 Tools

We will use Sublime Text to develop the web portal and android studio to develop the app.

Benefits of the Project

Farmers will gain the most benefit from our system. they will gain knowledge from our portal about the latest seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and latest cultivation methods. The government and private organizations will advertize their goods on our portal. The app our system will provide the farmer irrigation monitoring module which will help the farmers to use the water wisely by using the IoT.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The system will be developed in Open Source Technologies. The Front end of the web portal will be developed in HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT and BOOTSTRAP. Whereas, back end business logic would be developed in JavaScript using NODE.JS framework and database would be structured in Firebase.

Smart agriculture system app will be developed in FLUTTER using Dart language and database would be structured in Firebase.

SAS app will be connected with rasberry pi and rasberry pi will be connected with different sensors (water sensor, moisture sensor, humidity sensor).

All of the mentioned technologies are amazing to produce a bespoke web-based application and apps without much difficulty and it's easy to customize.
