SkinKonnect
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryTechnologies are not just creating machines, or devices what we are really doing is designing experiences, crafting our relationship with devices and
with each other. We are shaping the culture and the way we live. In this era everyone expects computing all the time, all the place as we go about
everyday life. Challenge is of creating rich and Natural ways of interaction with our devices and people around us and computing environment. One
of the helpful and supporting approach to this challenge is SkinKonnect technology. SkinKonnect refers to a new input technology that essentially
makes use of human body as an input device. It is also known as bio-acoustic sensing or bio-acoustic transmission.
The project aims to turn your arm into a tablet device promising a great future for wearable and will project your phone onto the skin of your
arm making it easy to use. “The mobile screen but on your skin”, the most attractive feature is the use of skin as an input.
This system includes major three blocks: first is vibration sensor which is sensing a wave from human skin after tapping at particular location. The
frequency of wave is different at different body surface area. This block consists of mainly one minisense100 vibration sensor and low frequency signal
amplifier. Amplifier amplifies a signal at particular voltage range and forward to microcontroller block. Produced analogue output after vibrations
are forward to microcontroller. After converting the analogue output into digital, it should get store in microcontroller. Look-up vector Table classifies
the data and select particular category. So this classification gives idea about, on which location the tapping is done. Now as shown in diagram the
microcontroller is connected with the different devices using wireless communication module.
No need to interact with the gadget directly.
Don't have to worry about keypad.
People with larger fingers get trouble in navigating tiny buttons and keypads
Easy to use.
Beneficial for handicapped people.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe main parts of the hardware are the minisense100 (It is low cost cantilever type vibration sensor loaded with a mass for high sensitivity at low
frequencies. Coming with horizontal and vertical mounting options as well as reduced height version), a microcontroller, a low frequency signal
amplifier, a Pico projector and a communication module. And also a software for the coding of microcontroller will be needed.
