Simulation and Hardware Design of three kW Brushless DC motor
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThis project is all about the hardware design of a 3Kw BLDC motor, which will be done in collaboration with local industry. This reflects how much we need this funding for our project. Our part in this project is to make calculation for the motor and provide reliable and sustainable design of the motor that can be manufactured in mass quantity. Through this project the path way toward a sustainable and renewable energy usage will be made practical and efficient and will help reduce the Global warming which is increasing day by day due to conventional vehicles.
Project ObjectivesOur project objective is to help local industry adopt the revolution in Vehicle industry.
Provide reliable and sustainable design of BLDC motor for mass production.
Control the speed and torque of a motor using electronic controller.
Project Implementation MethodOur project consist of following five steps for its completion.
STEP-1: Literature review
Acquiring basic concept of a project is the base. Without literature review we cannot move forward. The timeline for literature review is shown through Gantt chart.
STEP-2: Simulation on ANSYS MAXWELL SOFTWARE
To implement what we studied, we will make simulation model on ANSYS MAXWELL SOFTWARE. Simulation model will help us to determine correct values of torque and angular speed for motor rating.
STEP-3: HARDWARE IMPLEMANTATION
After meeting the requirements, we will make 3kw BLDC motor prototype with collaboration of local industry. This is critical and most important part of our project.
STEP-4: Testing of Hardware
Successfully doing all these steps, the hardware prototype will be tested for its characteristics of torque and angular speed.
STEP-5: Results comparison
Second last step includes comparison of results of simulated model and hardware prototype.
*Duration for project completion in at most 12 months.
Benefits of the ProjectMotors are widely used in industries. However world is shifting towards renewable and sustainable energy sources and that are basically in the form of direct current. That’s why it is important to have DC machinery. It will help us get rid of converter. Also there is brushed dc motor but brushless dc motors have certain benefits over them will ae follows
- Better speed versus torque characteristics.
- High dynamic response.
- High efficiency.
- Long operating life due to a lack of electrical and friction losses.
- Noiseless operation.
- Higher speed ranges.
Final deliverable of a project will be a hardware of BLDC motor which can be implated in EV to help reduce polution and other toxic emission that was part of our enviroment due to conventional vehicles. The motor will be in-runner type becuase of its size consideration. Electronic controller will be uesd for the control of its speed and torque.
