The current project:
1. Aims to quantify the effects of ageing on a range of silicone oils
2. To establish the pertinent chemistry
3. To identify suitable diagnostic tests to allow service engineers to
make an informed decision of whether to replace or recondition
plant.
• First we take a container.
• Adding a drying agent and an adsorption agent to the unpurified
silicone oil.
• Causing the drying agent and the adsorption agent to act on the
silicone oil during a reaction period.
• After reaction period, separating the drying agent and the adsorption
agent from the silicone oil.
• After separating, heating the silicone oil in a container(vacuum
container) with high voltages(connected anode and cathode to this
left and right side of the container) to remove dissolved gasses.• After this, impurities will be oxidize to atmosphere from container.
• Purified silicon oil will be at bottom of the container.
• As silicone oil temperature will be very high after giving a High
voltage(It is mainly used for purification of oil for transformer with a
voltage higher than 220kv).
• After cooling process and passing through filter purified silicon oil
will take out from the container.
• Silicone oil provides an excellent self healing liquid insulation system
for high voltage applications and has minimal environmental impact.
Unlike conventional hydrocarbon oils, it is capable of withstanding
extremely high temperatures, such as those found in small
transformers, and hence lends itself to more specialised applications
outside of the reach of conventional oil/paper or polymeric insulation
systems. These oils have also been used in terminations for many
years with little understanding of their degradation or ageing
behaviour and one noticeable problem is that these oils can become
cloudy/black after relatively few years in service due to impurities.
This project is very sensitive as we use very high voltages for break down of silicon oil.we must be project from electrical shocking as it is very dangerous.
