The proposed Virtual Reality Application will have an interactive and understandable user interface. A guide will be provided to the user for its very first use. The proposed system can be used by the help of a Virtual Reality Glasses and Controllers. User have to configure its VR device first and then proceeds towards the VR shopping. A guide list of VR devices and their configuration will be provided. After successful VR device check the user will be able to enter into the Virtual reality environment and will allow to purchase products. The delivery of the products will depend on the time specified by the user. The minimum delivery time will be 4 hours depending on user premises.

We will be assuming that the user is pre matured and have some idea for using Virtual Reality glasses and controllers. The system will let user to enter its user name and password to login and to sign up for new users. User will have freedom to walk in virtual world and to grab the products with the help of controllers and place it in cart. Few 3D models will also be implemented and for other things we will use unity assets. By using scripting languages we will manage the user accounts, products and carts.

The products that are bought by users must have a complete detail and acquires user satisfaction. The user satisfaction can be highly achieved in a case if user physically check the product its space, length, width, height etc. and can view it from every perspective.

Project Objectives

The objective of the proposed project is to build a Virtual Reality Based Application for a shopping system. The application will let the user to purchase things in a computer generated shopping center, which will allow user to experience the real essence of shopping. With the help of a virtual reality based device and controllers, the user will be able to move in the shopping center, to pick a product which can be added into a cart and enjoy the shopping from home but in real environment. The user will be able to see the details of selected product in a dialogue box like ingredients, qualities, price etc., and the system will help user to select the product.

The user will have freedom to unselect the products and proceed to final checkout. The user will be asked for the preferred delivery time so the product will be delivered accordingly to the user and different methods of payment will be available for user. The proposed system is B2C (business to consumer).

As predicting the future technologies and trends, it’s very obvious that the Virtual Reality technology will be main work in near future. Virtual Reality will be main stream technology in future and will be very easily accessible to many of people around the world. We are trying to develop a system which will lessen the burden of Humans and the system will be easily accessible to common people. Considering all the facts, the system will be very handy for users and they will have freedom to experience the real based scenario of shopping center. They will have freedom to move freely in the shop in virtual world and buy things just like traditional way. This will safe myriad of energy and time of user.

Project Implementation Method

The development of virtual reality environment is a difficult and complex task. Small Environment does not need much attention but our system will be large and complex system. Complex project will require starting phases of the software development like planning, analysis etc. As we are planning to create virtual world with interactive objects so we needed a methodology that can support our virtual reality objects consisting of scenario driven virtual environment. The software methodology used for a given project will be Agile.

Each Milestone is allocated time that is sprint which have to be completed in the specified time. Each milestone will be planned, implement, test and review through out the end of the project.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The Final Deliverable include a Virtual Reality shopping Application alomg with the Oculus Rift having the following Features

  1. Move freely in the store to explore and find product.
  2. Products can be seen through naked eye.
  3. You can pick products and can watch it from every perspective that includes its size, color, details which will be same as in physical world.
  4. You can pick the product and can move it from one place to another.
  5. You can add product into the cart.
  6. You can change the product quantity in the cart.
  7. There will be a checkout option which will confirm your address and preffered delivery time.
  8. A dialog box will appear when user clicks on the product through controller.
  9. The dialog box include the detail of the product like its brands, price, ingridients and other details etc.
  10. The Add to cart option will also be in that dialog box.
  11. Total Amount will also be shown in a dialog box.
  12. There will be a counter in the shopping store where following icons will be placed 
    1. Login/Signup
    2. Cart
    3. Checkout
  13. User must be logged in to proceed to checkout.
  14. In signup following details will be taken from user
    1. Name
    2. Email Address
    3. Delivery Address
    4. Contact No
    5. Password
    6. Confirm Password
  15. You can go the cart by going to the counter by clicking on the cart icon through the controller.
  16. You can also go to the checkout option by clicking on the checkout icon theough the controller.
