Project Title
Water is one of the precious factors in human life. But, now a days it is been exploited heavily by dumping
of human waste, industrial and chemical waste in to the water bodies which is the resultant of water being
contaminated with toxic chemicals. Water scarcity and water contamination has been one of the major issues
faced by the society around the world. This Project deals with the monitoring of water quality by mainly
considering the physical and chemical properties of water. For this purpose, a Wireless Sensor
Network(WSN) is designed which will contain several sensors to sense the Physical contents of water. The
power for the sensor nodes are obtained from the solar panels connected to the sensor nodes. Though, in
earlier times, there were water quality monitoring systems, they were power hungry and not real time. Apart
from acting as a single system, if this system integrates with other innovative solutions like Smart Home or
Smart Building, the application of this system would increase leading to an increased demand for it.
This project highlights on how a real-time monitoring system can be made generic, using Network
Virtualization. Also, new technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) could be incorporated in this system to

·To design a prototype network of multiple nodes(at least three nodes) that will monitor water qualities using different parameters.
- ·To understand the working principle of solar energy technologies with prototype.
- ·To evaluate IoT based WSN that will display the real-time data anywhere using internet.
- To provide a sustainable system for our government so that govt. will act against those who are responsible for contamination of water.


- The traditional system of water quality monitoring was to collect water samples from rivers or lakes, move them to the laboratories that are far away from the source, and do the water quality analysis. The major drawback of such a system was that it was non real-time monitoring; the results provided were confined to a small coverage area, reducing the coverage capacity; and the overall system was costly.
- We will produce a sustainable solution by making an IoT based WSN that will monitoring real-time water quality. If water pollution is detected in an early stage, suitable measures can be taken and critical situations can be avoided.
