They are well known and in demand due to their high power output ability. It is highly cost efficient and environment friendly as it recycles the exhaust gases coming from gas turbines to the environment by the help of heat exchanger and steam turbine. Aspen HYSYS simulation software is found very useful to show very similar results observed from combined cycle power plants.
In this project by using available data combined cycle power plant will be simulated and analyzed on Aspen HYSYS, different parameters, combinations, fuels, variables etc. The factors affecting the combined cycle power plant will be observed.
The data will be collected from Bin Qasim plant.The collected data will be simulated on Aspen HYSYS, conclusions will be made that which factors can improve efficiency of the plant. The improvements will be shared with the power plant visited by us.
Project Objectives1) To study and analyze combined cycle power plant by using Aspen HYSYS.
2) To visit various power plants in Pakistan for comparison and collection of data.
3) To perform sensitivity analysis by using the collected data.
Project Implementation Method1) To visit power plants for observing real time data collection.
2) To observe the application of different fuels on the simulation software.
3)To observe the effect of using same multiple gas turbines on the power output of steam turbine on simulation software.
4) To simulate other efficient types of gas and steam turbines.
5) To perform sensitivity analysis from the data collected.
6) To write and publish a research paper on the work done by the year.
Benefits of the Project1) The model of the plant can be used in the region of Baluchistan.
2) To suggest the best possible fuel for combined cycle power plant.
3) To utilize the chimney heat by the help of heat exchanger to provide heat to nearby buildings.
4) A research paper will be written and published.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable1) Licensed Aspen HYSYS software is required.
2) To visit Bin Qasim power station Karachi, to collect data of the combined cycle power plant which will be simulated.
