SEMI AUTOMATED BLOOD CHEMISTRY ANALYZER
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThe Blood chemistry analyzer has been widely used for quantitative measuring and analyzing
various biologic and chemical elements of human body fluid in clinic. The basic motto is to re-
design that machine in efficient manner for a local user. The machine will be designed and
implemented so it is available locally at low price. Semi automatic biochemistry analyzer
(SABCA) is a micro-controller based Photometric biochemistry Analyzer measure the various
blood biochemical parameters such as blood glucose, urea, protein, and bilirubin etc. That is
associated with various disorders such as Diabetes, kidney diseases, liver malfunctions and
other metabolic derangement’s. Purpose of the project is to redesign electronics part of
chemistry analyzer using different techniques. The quantization of these parameters is helpful
in diagnosing health disorder.
In the Proposed project work, it is planned to automate the filter selection, sample aspiration,
and other related parameter control through micro-controller based Hardware and Software
system.
Design electronics part of the Blood Chemistry Analyzer equipment.
Search the mapping of opto current values to Biochemistry values from research papers and
implement it in micro-computer.
Compare the results of our machine with the other available commercially.
Project Implementation MethodSemi-automatic blood chemistry analyzer basically works on the principle of colorimeter which
is mainly based on the Beer-Lambert’s Law. This law states that the light absorption when
passes through a medium is directly proportional to the concentration of the medium. When a
colorimeter is used, there is a ray of light with a certain wavelength is directed towards a
solution. Before reaching the solution the ray of light passes through a series of different lenses.
These lenses are used for navigation of the coloured light in the colorimeter. The colorimeter
analyzes the reflected light and compares with a predetermined standard. Then a microprocessor
installed in the device is used for calculation of the absorbance of the light by the solution. If the
concentration of the solution is higher than there will be more light absorbed by the solution and
if the concentration of the solution is low then more lights will be transmitted through the
solution.
Basic filter’s used for the purpose of light filtration process are
340,405,440,505,550,580,620,720 (Nanometre).
A blood chemistry analyzer is used to determine components in blood. Blood analyzers are used
by hospitals, medical labs, forensic labs, and by people at home. A blood chemistry analyzer
may be used to test for many things such as therapeutic drug monitoring, illegal drug use, blood
typing, protein analysis, checking thyroid function, checking for the presence of antibodies and
used by patients at home for glucose or cholesterol monitoring.
