Virtual vision prescribes the use of a visually and behaviourally realistic virtual environment simulator in the design. Impediments to deploying and experimenting with appropriately complex camera networks makes virtual vision an attractive. We have designed a system that exploits advanced Virtual Reality technologies to a system superior to mere 2D. Camera will be carried by a RC Car and will be operated using a Virtual Reality glasses. The movement of the camera will be directed by the user’s head movement and shall have mobility in 3 dimensions. The person receives video stream from camera will be received on a mobile. The video would be augmented with real-time 3D to create a more realistic and unbleached visual narrative for the user. The easily reconfigurable virtual camera situated throughout this environment generate synthetic video feeds that emulate those acquired by real surveillance camera monitoring extensive public spaces.                                      

Project Objectives

The key objectives of this project activity are as follows.
• All equipments consume less power and have high accuracy.
• For wireless data communication, a XBEE module will be used and its control circuitry is designed with consideration    of fast and authentic communication.
• For video transmitting raspberry pi and its camera is used.
• We would be designing and constructing all prototypes and obtain the video in real time.
• The head movement will be controlled using sensor.

Project Implementation Method

Scenes visualization using virtual reality is a project through which we will able to see things that are actually out of sight. The project is divided in to two parts, video processing unit and the movable module (controlled by head movement). When an operator (a person) will give commands to the controlling unit the module acts accordingly. This project oversights the things which are far from or beyond the view.  The video processing unit consists of VR (Virual Reality) glasses in which mobile is fitted and a sensor is also fitted for head movement and direction. On the module a raspberry cam is fitted which tranmits the video. The view of video can be seen through VR glasses worn by the operator. This whole process will be done through wireless communication. The sensor on VR glasses will sense the magnitude and direction of head movement and transmit it through the wireless (XBEE transmitter) to the module receiver. (XBEE receiver). The video will be transmitted from the raspberry pi to the module fitted on the RC car. Movement of module will be controlled by the operator through remote control car and the movement of the camera will controlled by the motors fitted on the module which are operated through the movement of head. The motors will be calibrated in such a way that the raspberry camera automatically moves in the same direction and same magnitude as that of the movement of head. At the end, camera will show a 2D view which will then be converted in to VR mode

Benefits of the Project

The device can then be used in restaurants, for inspections etc as it will allow audio communication. Its monitoring can also be enhance like sensors instability can be fixed. The range of the wireless communication can be extended and also the video quality can be improved. One can also use it for surveillance like it can be use on borders, in malls, in airports for security purpose, in schools, colleges, universities etc.
