Rover Robot
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummarySUMMARY:-
It is proposed that a Rover Robot is designed to move effectively over uneven surfaces, equipped with advanced technology such as night vision camera and remote controlling that can be used in military surveillance to great effect (Kothavade et al., 2021). A Rover Robot is a six-wheeled machine which can travel over uneven surfaces because of its hydraulic legs which maintains its equilibrium despite the obstacles. Rover Robots can also climb stairs and measures the distances of distant obstacles and adapts appropriately (Iagnemma, Genot and Dubowsky, 2018.) The Rover which is proposed in this project would also include a 360 degree night-vision camera, which will extend up to six inches for better visibility. This would be vital for military surveillance as certain areas can be difficult to observe effectively. Another feature would which would suit military requirements is the silence at which the Rover would operate. It would be outfitted with soundproof materials to guarantee stealth. Lastly, the Rover would be controlled through advanced AI as well accommodate human control through mobile app and Bluetooth. The concept was inspired from NASA which has used Rover Robots in planetary exploration missions. As of yet, Pakistan has not used Rovers to that extent, which means the potential of the usage of Rovers in the country is unexplored.
The project also attempts to align itself with the UN Sustainable Development Goals so as to create a safer, innovative and advanced society. Chief among these goals, for the purposes of the project, is the goal of Industry Innovation. The project attempts to combine various technologies and innovate so as to create a machine that can fulfill a variety of goals and can be adapted to virtually any setting, furthering innovation and development. Another major goal which this project aims to fulfill is the goal of global peace. The Rover in question is to be utilized by the military of the country to maintain peace and enforce the law. National security is a chief concern for developing nations, especially Pakistan, and it is hoped that the technology thus proposed is used to maintain peace all over the country and beyond.

Project ObjectivesOBJECTIVE:-
This project embarks on the following objectives;
- To popularize the usage of Rovers in military and also in other settings
- To innovate on the existing Rover designs to facilitate surveillance
- To make exploration easier and cost-effective
- To fulfill the UN Sustainable Goals and elevate Pakistan's position on the global stage.
Implementation Method:-
- It is proposed that a Rover Robot, equipped with advanced technology such as a night vision camera and remote control, be built to move successfully over uneven ground and be employed in military surveillance.
- A Rover Robot is a six-wheeled automaton with hydraulic legs that allows it to navigate over uneven terrain.
- The Rover envisaged in this proposal would also have a 360-degree night-vision camera with a six-inch extension for better visibility. This would be critical for military surveillance because some places are difficult to watch properly.
- Another characteristic that would suit military requirements is the Rover's ability to operate in silence. To ensure stealth, it would be outfitted with soundproof materials.
The project would be introduced to the industry through the following steps
- Identification of need. The initial assessment would take place which would assess the needs of the type of rover we seek to develop. A thorough review of literature, as well as policies and current events, would be analyzed
- Stakeholder identification. Stakeholders for the project would be identified. These would include all of the individuals and organizations which are affected by the project. Core stakeholders include the University, the Scholarship Organization, and the industries and organizations which would utilize the Rover.
- Creation of a timeline. This would create a schedule of steady progression. This would facilitate planning.
- Initial Development and Testing. The Prototype would be constructed and its potential would be assessed as per the expectations. It would be critically evaluated and updated as per the requirements.
- Introduction to the Organizations. All the data thus collected would be codified and after appropriate improvements have been made, the project would be introduced to the concerned authorities who may require such a machine to conduct their surveillance activities.
- Further Improvement. The Rover would be updated through various tweaks in order to make it much more efficient and productive over time.
BENEFITS:-
The following are the socio-economic benefits of the projects:
- The project would allow the military to utilize new and innovative stealth technology for the purposes of national security. Surveillance is an important part of any military force and information gained through these activities is essential for lasting peace. Especially in border areas, and other areas of military interest such as Waziristan, which have uneven terrain, the application of Rover Robots would help the military keep peace (Sastry, 2017).
- This project would popularize the usage of advanced technology across all sectors by exploring new functions of machines, which can help the country in virtually any industry. Aside from military applications, such Rovers could also be utilized in planetary exploration and space missions (Gao and Chien, 2017).
- This project is an important step towards the fulfillment of the UN Sustainable Goal of Industry development and innovation. It synthesizes many different types of technologies to create a machine that can be adapted for any use, and in any setting (Khamis, Li, Prestes and Haidegger, 2019).
- This project is also a major step towards the UN Sustainable Goal of Global Peace and Safety. The technology which is proposed can help the military maintain peace and ensure safety of citizens all over the country. This would reduce the likelihood of open warfare (United Nations, 2022).
- It would also lay the groundwork for any Pakistani contribution towards space exploration. Rover technology has been synonymous with space exploration and this new machine would take Pakistan one step closer towards the new planets and beyond (Chien and Wagstaff, 2017).

Technical Details of Final DeliverableTechnical Details:-
Rover Robots are being used throughout the world in various settings due to their effective surveillance capabilities and also because they are safer to use than human personnel. They are used for various purposes and are custom designed for each of their functions. The most common design contains the 6-wheeled Rover equipped with various utilities such as cameras and different types of sensors (Kothavade et al., 2021). The main feature which would be vital for surveillance and one which sets this project apart is the noise-proofing of the Rover, which would allow it to operate in total silence. Stealth in surveillance is one of the most important factors to consider. Rovers, being machines are often quite noisy and do not adequately hide their presence. This project attempts to create a new type of Rovers fitted with rubber components instead of chains. Moreover Hydraulic systems would also be sound-proofed and allow freedom of movement with none of the noise.
