ROOT Expert System
Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThis project is deals with elder adult healthcare. The project aims to provide a solution to inform doctors and guardians about emergency situation related to the patient. Moreover, our solution consists of real-time data monitoring and analyzing. It will also consist of reminder and scheduler for medicine intake. It compromises of multiple module, which include automation module, Internet of things module (for monitoring vitals), Computer Vision module (to visually observe the condition of patients), Cloud module (to transfer data from the sensors to the mobile application), Mobile application module (to show patient vitals and contact ambulance in case of emergency). The severe critical conditions in which patient such as heart attack, epilepsy in which patient is unable to contact their relatives is dealt by the system as it will detect using sensors and visual input i.e. camera monitoring.
Project Objectiveshe main objective of project is to make an expert system that will be able to track the activities and vitals of elderly citizens/patients, in order to pre-alert in case of emergency. The system will be able to pre-detect the heart rate, epilepsy and other fatalities based on vitals tracking. In case of fatal attack system will automatically detect in immediately inform respective guardians and also will inform ambulance when case is extremely severe. The system will give medicine intake reminder and generate daily reports on dashboard interface, which will be provided to see daily progress, heart rate, blood presssure, ECG, temperature, ecg and monitoring of other useful aspects.
Project Implementation MethodThe project will be implemented using following technologies
- Computer vision to visually monitor patients activities and postures
- IOT sensors to detect patients vitals
- Cloud server to make data available and accessible anywhere
- HL7 compliant database
- FDA complaint devices for hospitals
- Power Bi
We will be using IoT technologies such as arduino and raspberry pi chips and devices such as Zephyr Bioharness3 to monitor the patient, along with which we will use Computer vision technologies for monitoring falls. Then the info will be communicated via cloud to the application where the guardians and specialist doctors can view this information. Moreover, the devices will be programmed in case of any deviation from normal and relatives and ambulance will be informed via cloud technologies and mobile application.
For a doctors and family members of the patient, mobile application interface will be provided in which they can see and monitor various data related to health of elderly family member. For elder both audio visual assistive control system will be given to make it system easier for elders and make the environment around them intelligent.
Benefits of the ProjectElder people need intense care. At times like heart attack, epilepsy it is important to quickly identify and seek medical attention. The project aims to benefit elderly citizens and patients who spent most of the time in home alone and their family members/guardians usually are busy in jobs,
Following are the major benefits of this project:
- Quick detection of attack will reduce the time between attack time and medical attention which will decrease the risk of fatal losses.
- Daily dashboard monitoring will be helpful in identifying that certain prescribed medicine effectiveness on patient
- By intelligent pre-alert system, accidents can also be avoided from occurring by generating alerts in case of change in vitals that may lead to certain attack.
- It can also be used in hospitals where doctors can see their patient’s vitals on a mobile app after an intense surgery.
- Moreover, in order to make life easier for patients of heart surgery or similar issues where the patient cannot move much and needs help with movement.
The final deliverable will consist of following implementations
- The python 3 (openCV Library) Computer Vision module which will monitor the patient’s activities and emergency detection which will be implemented on Raspberry pi zero W and Camera module connected to Cloud Server for making the data available any location.
- The non-invasive (IOT) wearables to detect real-time data including heart rate, body temperature blood pressure, pulse rate and ECG scanner to monitor patient’s data in order create a pre-alert alarm system that before critical condition of patient is reached based on vitals checking. Invasive technology may be used in case of blood sugar.
- The HL7 medical standard compliant system in order to make patient’s data globally recognizable.
- The Microsoft Power BI data visualization platform in order to provide real-time graphical visual representation of patients vitals and for daily progress tracking.
- Audio recognition assistance will be provided for adults and patients to get required info asked verbally also
- FDA compliant devices will be used, in order to do secure monitoring and get accurate results.
- The mobile application interface will be provided to the patient, doctors and family members to easily see and monitor the condition of patients.
