Design and development of a waiter robot which is considered as a possible solution to restaurant automation.
In classical cafe, restaurants and hotels, the customers face a lot of problems due to congestion at peak hours, unavailability of waiters and due to manual order processing. These shortcomings can be handled by using a restaurant automation system where " Waiter Robots " are used for serving food and beverages. The desired order is transmitted on wireless network to the kitchen via menu screen on each table. The menu screen is based on the GUI (graphical user interface) on an android device. The customer places the order using electronic menu. This order is sent to the kitchen and reception using wireless communication. The waiter robot then transfers food from the kitchen to the customer.
The concept of very low cost automatic café management system using waiter robot is presented in which it has two parts. One is the automatic ordering system in which the customer can place the order using electronic menu system and can verify via LCD display. Once the customer confirms the order. The order wirelessly transferred to the kitchen via wireless module anddisplay on LCD which is placed in the kitchen. The cook prepares the order. Once the order gets prepared the kitchen person call the robot wirelessly to serve the food on the respective table.
This project is a humane substitute to reduce manpower in restaurants.
The main scope of this project is to give an innovation in restaurant or cafes which will make them stand out.
In areas with dense customer traffic (e.g., airports), roboticwaiters help to address the problem of lacking workforce and its high turnover.
