RFID AND FINGER PRINT( Biometric) BASED ATTENDANCE SYSTEM
In recent years, there have been rise in the number of applications based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems and have been successfully applied to different areas such as transportation, health-care, agriculture, and hospitality industry etc. RFID technology facilitates automatic wireless identification using electronic passive and active tags with suitable readers. We will implement an RFID based attendance system which will take recurrent lecture attendance. The application of RFID and Fingerprint to student attendance will be applied to eliminate time wasted during manual collection of attendance and an opportunity for the educational administrators to get classroom statistics for allocation of appropriate attendance scores and for further managerial decisions.

Recent trends in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) embrace several smartphone applications in a variety of educational and industrial domains in the last several years. This project is to solve one of the promising problems of an educational domain to take attendance smartly using the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system and fingerprint/ Biometric system . There are several problems in the existing attendance systems, such as time wastage while taking attendance, the chance of mistakes, truancy issues, no contact with parent/guardian and not efficient due to roll call as manual attendance. The proposed RFID based attendance system will provide robust, secure and automatic attendance. The proposed system will use modern technology and support to institutions and parents to deal with most of the problems of existing attendance systems. There are several other benefits of RFID and Biometric system such as web-based and mobile interfaces, daily absent report, an automatic SMS alert to parent/guardian, reduce administrative work, to improve the ratio of attendance due to easy monitoring.

In this project, we will design an RFID and finger print based attendance system using Arduino. First, we store a set of RFID card data in our system which can store RFID data associated with the user. Each user will also be registered using a finger print scanner in the attendance system. When the student with the RFID card or use finger print comes & swipes his RFID card or scan his finger, his arrival time will be stored on the system u displaying a “welcome” message along with his name, time and ID on LCD. When the same person swipes his RFID card for the second time, the system will save it as his leaving time displaying “See You”. The interval between first card swap and second card swap and duration finger print scan is the total working hours that are stored as data.The RFID or Finger print attandence can be selected according to the disposal of administration or faculty.
The final deliverable includes a complete project which can be implemented at any institute, university , industries or organization for the implementation of efficient attendance system.
