Raspberry Pi based Android Controlled Surveillance Robot
Project Area of Specialization Augmented and Virtual RealityProject SummaryThis project aims to provide surveillance in highly sensitive areas like border areas, terrorist hotspots without having to risk human life for the same.
This project’s main functionality is to deal with tough situations where human beings cannot handle situations like darkness, entering narrow and small places and detecting hidden bombs etc. Such hostile situation is occurring day by day in different parts of the world through terrorist attack or in natural catastrophes. This designed system is connected to a remote computer wirelessly through which the whole controlling of the system response is done. The project is also designed to search invisible metal stuffs from where people are not capable to reach and it is so designed to work in environment where visible light will not be available.
Project ObjectivesThe objective of this study is as follows:
This project describes a new economical solution of robot control systems .In general; the robots are controlled through wired network. The programming of the robot takes time if there is any change in the project the reprogramming has to be done. Thus they are not user friendly and worked along with the user preferences. To make a robot user-friendly and to get the multimedia tone in the control of the robot, they are designed to make user commanded work. The modern technology has to be implemented to do this.
Project Implementation MethodThe system works as follows:
In this project, we use a raspberry pi which is controlled via an Android Bluetooth app and a 360-degree night vision camera for surveillance purpose. The camera provides a live stream of the video that it captures which can be seen in an android app as well. The App for the camera also a complete 360-degree rotation providing complete surveillance, also featuring provision saving video as well as the audio.
This Raspberry pi board is used as an interface between the software and hardware and this has an inbuilt wireless controller and also a Bluetooth controller which supports the PI camera and
Benefits of the ProjectIn various areas there is a need of constant surveillance. The current surveillance system includes monitoring by using CCTV cameras and other monitoring system. Mostly these systems are stationary and they can cover a limited area. These systems are mostly control manually or through a computer. They cannot be used to cover a larger area as well as they cannot be controlled using any mobile device. In short we can say that these systems arenâTMt dynamic enough much which gives the need for the development of a surveillance system which is more dynamic and can be controlled remotely.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe robot in the project is made to move in all the four directions using the Android phone. The circuit is built around ATMEGA 328 controller board, Blue-tooth module HC-05, motor driver L293D (IC1), DC motors M1 and M2, and a few common components. The circuit uses two 9V batteries. First battery is used to power the ATMEGA 328 controller board and the other is used to power the motors. The regulated 5V supply for the rest of the circuit is provided by the ATMEGA 328 controller board itself. LED on the board indicates presence of power supply. Motor Driver H-Bridge is used to drive two motors which work on 9v DC batteries.
