Smart Solar Street Light with Robotic Self Cleaning Arm
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe prototype (Smart Solar Street Light with Robotic Self-Cleaning Arm) which we are proposing is going to be cost effective and in favor of national interest as well. If this system is implemented in Mehran UET, the institute is going to save around Rs.7 million annually and the grid will get a relief of 465,156 units/year fig [1] which can be shifted to hospitals, industries, etc. This project will eliminate wastage of electricity as well due to its automatic switching. Besides this, the DC led lamps are not hazardous as compared to sodium vapor lamps that are currently deployed in Mehran UET so the project is eco-friendly.
The smart street light project will eliminate the need of men power, it will be charged by solar energy and will be operated through an Android application. With the help of the Android application, we will be able to control the brightness of the LED, manage operational time, and observe the battery level. The proposed prototype will have a battery saving mode that will be managing the brightness according to the need with the help of a PIR sensor. Besides this, the prototype will have sensors to calculate Air Quality Index so that we can know how clean/unhealthy our air is and that data will be sent to the concerned department to take precautionary measures and the results will be shown on the Android application. A DIY Lithium-Ion Battery will be designed with a built-in battery management system (BMS) to control the charging and discharging of the battery. The main feature of the smart street light will be a self-cleaning arm which will automatically clean the PV panels at the time of dawn and dusk and could be controlled through a mobile phone application.

Project Objectives- To develop an all in one Smart Solar Street Light that is power efficient and eco-friendly.
- To develop an Android application to control and monitor smart street light system (battery level, brightness, air quality sensors and self-cleaning arm).
- To design and integrate a self-cleaning robotic arm in the proposed prototype.

2- Application Interface
A user-friendly application will be developed. The developed application is conceptually shown in [fig 3] by which users can control the brightness of the LED, manage operational time (if needed), observe battery level and control the self-cleaning arm.

3-Self Cleaning Arm
A self-cleaning arm will be placed on the surface of the solar panel which will clean the panel at the time of dawn and dusk but can be operated through an Android application as well fig [4]
