Project Summary

In this era the custom of taking order with pen and paper in the restaurant industry become very common. The waiter take order orally, and its take too much paper work to take the order and make it done till payment. According to the modern technology, the main objective is to provide platform for customer to make digital order. The primary objective is to facilitate the customer to select the item on tablet menu with effective pictures that look attractive and helps to make decision easily in short period of time. Thus, the customer will get the order on the table by clicking on menu items. This system can be implemented to any restaurant to facilitate the customers, since the application is to speedup order processing. This project is android based and use android studio for proposed menu ordering in restaurant. It will be developed using Java and XML. The other feature of the application is order the meal before arrival. This way the meal order would be ready as the customer arrives the restaurant.

Project Objectives

The objective of the project is to make an application in android platform to make the menu order more efficient. An application where customer can place their order from automatically assigned table and all information will be sent to the kitchen and cashier directly. This system works when the customer click on tablet Menu items list. Customer clicks on item that he/she wants to order. Item detail will be open on next page. As the order is placed by the customer to admin side. Admin side takes the order form assigned table. Admin will see ordered item and decide the time, that how much time to deliver the order to customer, and send the notification to the booked table. The order will be delivered with in specific time limit. Another motivation can be considered as the increasing use of smart tablets by the customers. There will be no limitation on the amount of order the customer wants by ordering menu in the proposed system.

Project Implementation Method

The project would be implemented using traditional wather fall method of development. The functionality would be added incrementally to the system. This application helps the restaurant to do menu functions more accurately in faster way. It reduces manual work and improves efficiency of restaurant. This application will help in menu ordering system to maintain following facilities:

  • To store records.
  • Control order and services.
  • Control staff.
  • Control multiple tables/tablets.
  • Helps manager to control each part of the restaurant.

The main method is to maintain the menu in an effective and accurate manner to reduce the use of manual entries. This software helps menu order to maintain day by day record in menu system. It is keeping a proper record of menu items in the database.

Benefits of the Project

There are numerious benefits of the proposed system with saving of time and ease of use without errors in the manual system. Many restaurants stored their data manually. For managers it is difficult to view table’s orders, kitchen, staff reception and the counter simultaneously, the admin can easily get record on daily bases and it also can change and manage the item in menu and also its price. 

Restaurant administraor need full-fledge software to maintain day to day transaction, order and also regular update on records and daily staff report.

In today’s generation whenever we visit a restaurant, a waiter comes with a paper notebook and pen and takes an order on it. In this traditional way there are chance of misinterpretation of order so there is n automated menu system which manages all the order of the customers. In this system Tablet is provide on each table through which customer can place there order which will be placed on screen and once order can be ready waiter can serve on the respective table.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The traditional menu ordering system is entirely manual process which involves waiter, pen and paper. The customer has wait for waiter to take the order. The waiter notes down the orders from the customer, take these orders to the admin side, update them in the records and again make the bill. This system is simple; it may involve errors while nothing down the orders as well as in making calculations. Even it is sometimes difficult to interpret the handwriting of the waiter. To overcome these limitations in manual system are being developed to automate menu ordering system are being developed to automate food ordering process. By using smart restaurant menu ordering system, the ordering system is made more efficient and can help the manager to avoid human error and enhance business development. In this system, ordering transaction is a step by step process to make the transaction more systematic and system can guide the staff to avoid any order mistakes. The transaction between waiters and cashier will be systematic and efficient. Besides the efficiency, this system can give better quality of service to customers and will attract more customers to get this quality services. This system will be going to help customer and supervisor in restaurant especially part ordering. The result of digital ordering will give easy to make ordering and hopefully can smoothen up the job of waiter. This system also produces an android system in defining the best solution in each ordering. SYSTEM REQUIRMENS
