The power systems can be subjected to numerous cases of faults that can render them out of synchronism. Protection and technical feasibility are required for the efficient function of the power system. This study proposes such protection and techno-economic coordination for Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro (MUET). The electrical Layout of MUET has two main VCBs (Vacuum Circuit breakers) for protection purposes. The whole network gets disturbed when a fault occurs in any department. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to model a new system for MUET that contains protective devices and their coordination in order to enhance the efficient operation and reliability of the system.
This research aims to the protection coordination of substations located at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and the cost analysis of the proposed system. The objectives of this research are as below.
? To collect the data of each department of MUET.
? To model the electrical network of Mehran University of Engineering and technology by using ETAP software.
? To perform the short circuit and load flow analysis of the existing system of MUET.
? To propose a new system for MUET containing circuit breakers.
? To perform the short circuit and load flow analysis of the new network by using ETAP.
? Cost analysis of the electrical network of MUET.
The findings of this study will contribute to the correct operation of relays. This study also includes load flow and fault analysis of Mehran University of engineering and technology, to understand its electrical system. The increasing peak demand for electricity justifies the need for the proper coordination of devices. The hardware will help us to understand the protection coordination of a power system, Which is very important for a design engineer.
