Protection is a basic need of any power system trainer. Power system trainers are used because working directly on the real power system is risky and costly. We use trainers to get an idea of the real power because working directly on power system is not possible. Because power system consists of many processes including generation, distribution and transmission at every instant it could face a different fault or mishap. Therefore a proper protection is required for each and every part.  
Our target is to prepare a power system protection trainer which would be limited to power system trainers but it would help understanding the actual power protection system and could allow us to come up with some ideas which we could propose for the real power system in the future.
Since a power system trainer consists of many different modules connected together we have planned some different techniques that would be able to protect the power system trainer from damage. There are many different faults the trainer could face some of them can be figured out but some are not possible for us to figure out at this stage. Keeping that in mind our protection trainer would include only these faults
1.    Earth fault
2.    Over/ under voltage
3.    Over / under current
4.    Directional fault
The protection trainer we are preparing would be a combination of relays and other blocks to counter these faults only. The protection trainers are already available in the markets but the thing that would differentiate our trainer from others is the cost. Obviously the power system trainers are made up of expensive components worth Millions of Rupees and replacing these components every time a fault occur is not affordable. Our main purpose is to come up with a protection trainer that does the same job with almost the same accuracy but it is produced at a lower price

Project Objectives

The fundamental objective of system protection is to provide isolation of a problem area in the power system quickly, such that as much as possible of the rest of the power system is left to continue service. There are five basic facets of protective relay application.

1. Reliability: Assurance that the protection will perform correctly.

2. Selectivity: Maximum continuity of service with minimum system disconnection.

3. Speed of operation: Minimum fault duration and consequent equipment damage and system instability.

4. Simplicity: Minimum protective equipment and associated circuitry to achieve the protection objectives.

5. Economics: Maximum protection at minimal total cost

Project Implementation Method

In the first week we complete our planning then we start literrature review and we take 1 month in this part and after litrerature review we order boxes and frame and start searching hardware and this searching time did simulation and we are still doing it and then we will complie our project after finding all Relays and equipments and then we will complete our project report 

Benefits of the Project

Since power system requires extra care , it demands extra expenses
Power system protection trainer adds up a great amount of cost.
At the same time it reduces the chances of damages which result in buying  new equipments and that would cost a lot.
Keeping in mind the cost factor we are trying to come up with a trainer which is availiable at the least possible price.
Less priced Power Sytem Protection Trainer would encourage more users to buy this.
Cost is the main factor everybody pays importance to regardless of the nature of business
