Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryThis final year project ‘Electrical Power Controller for Wind Turbine’ will include designing and hardware implementation of controller-based Push-Pull converter. The core point is that Wind turbine produces different voltages at different wind speeds. For this purpose, the micro-controller will receive input from the turbine generator/wind speeds/rotor speeds to control the PWM duty cycle of the Push-Pull converter. When Wind Turbine produces low voltages at low wind speeds, then the Push-Pull converter will work in Boost-Mode for increasing the voltages to nominal required rating voltages 12/24V. In Similar way, when wind speeds are higher which results in producing high voltages at output, then Push-Pull converter will work in Buck-Mode to decrease the voltages to nominal required rating voltages 12/24V. Fast/Slow charging will be carried out based upon the temperature of battery, so that maximum power can be utilized and charge batteries. This electrical controller will be designed for 1000W, and it will utilize maximum power out of wind turbine.

- Simulation and Hardware implementation.
- Power Specification: 1000W.
- Designing and Simulation of Push-Pull Converter.
- Transformer designing for 12/24V Lead Car battery.
- Micro-Controller utilizes maximum power of Wind Turbine by slow/fast charging
- Design and simulation of Battery temperature monitoring
- LED interfacing for data displaying.
Following steps includes the implementation method:
- Theoretical study and literature review of different available converters.
- Simulation is done to understand the behavior of every converter.
- Converter meeting the output requirements (1000W) is selected.
- Transformer design is done for required 12/24V lead car battery.
- Micro-Controller is being coded to transfer maximum power at output keeping sustained battery temperature.
- Micro-controller also tracks the Maximum Power Point of Wind Turbine.
- LED interfacing is done to display status of Controller.
- PCB layout will be done on the basis of specification.
- Prototype of working model will be design and implemented.
- Testing and fine tuning is done for more refined output.
- Working Model will be implemented.
