Project Summary

Posture sensing smart chair aims to monitor the posture of a person sitting on a chair and inform and record accordingly. In our project, we will design in such a way that if the person is sitting in a good posture it will vibrate for once, and if the person is sitting in a bad posture it will vibrate several times to remind a person about its position.

The sensor would be placed on the back and below the bottom of the seat for correct positioning.

An application will be designed in which the sitting posture records will be save for a review and also the previous record will be shown.

Project Objectives

To design a chair that will sense good and bad posture with maximum possible accuracy to avoid health issues for a person who is sitting for a long time or serval hours. 

Project Implementation Method

Pair of sensors will be placed at the back of the chair and others under the seat.

Seat sensors calculate weight and back sensors calculate force when applied.

the good and bad postures will be defined, from where we can conclude a result that whether a person is sitting in a good posture or a bad posture.

If a person will sit in a good posture, it will monitor it and vibrate once in an interval.

If a person will sit in a bad posture, it will monitor it and vibrate continues in an interval.

The mobile application will be designed to save and record readings.

Benefits of the Project

There are serval benefits of our project that are related to medical health: 

1. Our project can be used everywhere where there is a use of a chair, likewise in the Education sectors, In offices, even in the home.

2. Our project can be implemented in vehicle seats to avoid health issues.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Whenever a person is sitting in a good posture or in a bad posture our project can help a person to value his health in such a way that different types of sensors are to be used in different positions to locate human postures that will indicate the human is sitting in a good or a bad posture. if the person is sitting in a bad posture( according to the threshold value), the led light which will be connected will glow and show a red light, and vibration will be made after several intervals until the person will sit in a good posture. Similarly for a Good posture, if the person is sitting in a good posture (according to the threshold value), the led light which will be connected will glow and show a green light, and vibration will be made once. If the person is sitting in an average posture as defined in the threshold it will show an Orange light and will show an orange deviation on an application.
