Project Area of Specialization Biomedical EngineeringProject SummaryThe pregnant ladies should have to visit the doctors for the proper monitoring of developing baby but in COVID-19, an IoT based fetal monitoring system has become a need of time. In this project, we have purposed a home-based fetal heartrate monitor that is easy to use for regular monitoring. It is attached with the body and measures all the parameters. In case of any emergency, doctor will be informed through mobile application. Temperature, heart beat and SpO2 has been measured and on OLED and mobile application. The data will be store on the mobile application for 1 week.
Project ObjectivesTo monitor mother’s vital signs.
2.To monitor fetal heart rate for observation of fetus development .
3.To develop IoT based system for transfer of vital information to mobile app.
Project Implementation MethodPatient parameters ;
Patient health parameters like temperature, SpO2 and heart rate are measured by sensors placed on fingers and skin. The collected data is then transferred to ESP8266. In the end, the processed data is displayed on OLED and mobile application.
• Fetal parameters;
Sound is detected by using condenser microphone that will be placed on abdomen close to cervix. The microphone is adjusted in stethoscope that will be fitted in elastic pregnancy belt. It will detect the sound of fetal heart beat, amplifier amplifies the filtered signal and in the end the data is displayed on OLED and mobile application.
• IoT ;
The measured data of mother and fetus will be channelized to mobile application through WIFI-module. It will be stored in app for 1 week or 1 month so that physician can monitor the health progress
Benefits of the ProjectUsually, the existing fetal heartrate monitoring systems use doppler ultrasound that uses high frequency sound waves to monitor the fetal heartrate which can be harmful for living tissues and condenser microphone only monitors the fetal health progress. Moreover, the mother has to go to the clinician for monitoring the progress of her unborn baby. Today, in the pandemic, mostly it is difficult for routine checkup and if they are facing any health issue, on time consultation may not be provided.
