Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThis project will automate the traditional attendance system by using airtifical intelligence. Through this project, we will not only manage physical presence of a student in the class but also monitor the level of engagement in the lectures and other classroom activities. The system will mark the physical presence of stduent by face recognition and mental presence by detecting the facial expresions. The system will classify facial expressions into five categories: engaged, bored, interested, sleepy, confused. The instructor would be able to manage the class according to the overll class strength and attitute.
Project Objectives- To maintain student's physical attendance using face recognition
- To maintain student's mental attendance using facial expression recognition
Three basic steps are used for implementing the proposed system.
1.Detect and extract the face image and save the details in an xml file.
2.Calculate eigenvalue and eigenvector for that image.
3.Recognize the face and match it according to eigen values and eigenvectors stored in xml file
4.Store the name of the face displayed in MySql database.
Facial expresions will be detected by the following steps:
1. face detection
2. feature extraction
3. classification into five categories.
Visualisation on a web portal or mobile app.
