Project Summary

Almost only buyers of new vehicles depend upon company-maintained auto workshops for a limited time period till they are carried away by the myth of high repair and maintenance cost. Then they switch over to the local market only a small fraction of them go to privately owned garages. Most vehicle owners depend on local auto mechanics thus take time to find suitable mechanics for their precious vehicles. It is estimated that around 95% vehicle owners depend on local auto mechanics thus take time to find suitable mechanics for their precious vehicles.

This project is aimed to facilitate not only the unknown and unregistered but experienced and quality mechanics into the limelight but it will also act as a bridge between them and millions of vehicle owners. So as to facilitate both in terms of business quality repair and economy of time and money through this project. The proposed idea is application supported by a database system of real auto mechanics. The application will also enable you to get estimated quotes for the specific job before hiring a mechanic. The proposed system aims to enable customers in reaching the most suitable mechanic for the required job.

Project Objectives

• Geolocation based tracking of available mechanics to clients
• Displaying location of registered mechanic workshop on map
• Comparison of mechanic based on skills and feedback
• A questionnaire for identifying problem and getting a quote estimate

Project Implementation Method

• An android application will provide authentication service through mobile number of the user through Firebase Authentication APIs.
• There will be option to choose communication mode between online (cloud messaging) and offline(SMS).
• The data will be stored in Firebase database.
• There are three front ends for the software:
  • • Clients:

• Clients will be able to find appropriate and suitable mechanic just by searching the portal and will be able to connect the mechanic through app.
• Clients will be able to rate the mechanic through portal which will add to mechanics’ suitability rating.
• Clients will be able to find mechanics in selected radius/areas or roads and including nearby mechanics and results will be available on map.

• • • Database Manager:
• Database manager will design appropriate registration form linked with back end normalized data base.
• DB manager with a selected team of data collectors will approach all the mechanics in specific areas and will register the willing mechanics on this portal.
• Same team will prepare suitable brusher to educate the common mechanics about registration on this portal so as to facilitate and to increase their business.
• This database will be owned, prepared and maintained by manager.
• The manager will manage all the records of the clients and mechanics. Admin can edit, upload, and delete the records of the both. Admin can activate and deactivate the mechanics accounts on the basis of feedback and rating.
  • •    Mechanic:

• Mechanics will be able to register themselves on this portal.
• After registration the mechanics can login into its account by its own username and password. Mechanics can Edit, update, delete their data.
• The mechanics will be enabled to receive request from the nearest customer and he may accept it according to his feasibility.

Need:

• Most of the previous work is done for self-owned garages.
• No mobile application on a similar problem in Pakistan.
• Lack of effort for involving independent mechanics.
• Most of the work limited to cars but not for trucks, dumpers, escalator e.t.c.

APIs:  Firebase, Google Map APIs, Cloud Messaging.

An android application with XML, Android languages utilizing the Firebase online storage, google maps and simple GPS for tracking and sms and cloud messaging services for communication.
