our process parameters are the following.

Our problem statement is below.

Quality (Surface Roughness) of moulds is certainly an issue in the local market and to cope up the problem, an optimization technique is to be applied using 5-axis CNC machine.

Process parameters optimization has been an active area of research for the past few decades. Different industries face the problem of optimizing multiple, conflicting input parameters to achieve the desired value of the objective function. The objective function may be maximization (e.g. profits) or minimization (e.g. costs incurred). The various techniques of the optimization have been applied in different contexts and have shown impressive results in the respective areas.

Using CNC machine for mould manufacturing considering the characteristics such as profile, surface roughness etc. Also considering the relationship of the CNC machine with mould manufacturing.

For improvement it is important to measure process and avoid the wastage of the materials in the process.

In our country, most traditional methods are used to make moulds, so to focus is to develop some automated methods to avoid the mistake and wastage of materials.

The aim of this study is to own a method which is optimum to make the mould in such a way which have low costs and high quality. Here low costs not mean that effect on the quality, but to achieve high-quality moulds with possible low costs.

In our Project, we perform some activities and tasks in parallel. 

Project Objectives

•Optimization of parameters for selected mould.

•To use such material for mould which is cheap and can be easily met in the market.

• To support local market/industry.

Project Implementation Method

Our project is on the optimization of process parameters of mould manufacturing using 5-axis CNC Machine. we draw a design on a cero software for the design of the mould manufacturing. for further we use the 5-axis CNC machine for manufacturing of the mould.

we use an optimization technique called Analysis of Variance( Tacguhi Orthogonal array). ANOVA  is an optimization technique used for experimentation to conclude that at which parameter the Surface Roughness is best.

Benefits of the Project

The benefits of our project are below.

  • In the local market, the surface roughness in moulds is an issue because the skilful people are using traditional methods and techniques for the manufacturing of mould.  
  • the next one is to find a parameter at which the mould gives good quality (Surface Roughness) using a 5-axis CNC machine.
  • we design a product which is environment-friendly and have no safety issues.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  • first design the mould in the CERO-Parametric software.
  • then manufacturer the Mould in a 5-axis CNC Machine.
  • for optimization and experimentation using the technique called Tacguhi Orthogonal Array.
  • then there we find the optimum parameter for which the quality ( Surface Roughness) is Good
