Project Summary

OBE Facilitation Portal is a cloud based portal designed to facilitate university administration to keep a check and balance of the CLOs and PLOs that are mapped for each courses for a students to achieve a mandatory Goal by the end of their degree program this portal will be accessible for IT managers, Chairman of various department of the respective universities, Teachers and Students. Super Admins will edit the main framework and add chairman and programs offered by the Institute. Teachers can login and update the progress of students according to assessment that are mapped accordingly to the CLOs and PLOs. Students can login and view there progress. Chairman can add remove the teachers and courses being offered to them. Chairman can view the CLO clearance progress of the students as well. Requirements can be modified according to the needs of the Institutes . OBE portals are already been implemented in different Institutes but with a very weak database Techniques. This Portal will be totally cloud based and interfaces will be provided to the institutes. This will Enable the universities of Pakistan to Work on a Portal with same environment and Rules defined by PEC for OBE Program.

Project Objectives

Main Objective is to create a dynamic web application with access from a cloud platform with different frameworks for the facilitation of faculty and students to determine the Progress of the Degree program in accordance to the OBE system. Portal will be developed and implemented in various Institutes across Pakistan which will provide an Environment for the University to engage the chairman and faculty for respective departments to Upload the progress of each student according to OBE system and Students can determine the progress by using this Portal.

Project Implementation Method

Methodology and Equipment/Tools Python is a multi-paradigm programming language. Object-oriented programming and structured programming are fully supported, and many of its features support functional programming and aspectoriented programming (including by metaprogramming and meta objects (magic methods)). Many other paradigms are supported via extensions, including design by contract and logic programming. Python uses dynamic typing, and a combination of reference counting and a cycle-detecting garbage collector for memory management. It also features dynamic name resolution (late binding), which binds method and variable names during program execution. Python's design offers some support for functional programming in the Lisp tradition. It has filter, map, and reduce functions; list comprehensions, dictionaries, sets and generator expressions. The standard library has two modules (itertools and functools) that implement functional tools borrowed from Haskell and Standard ML. Rather than having all of its functionality built into its core, Python was designed to be highly extensible. This compact modularity has made it particularly popular as a means of adding programmable interfaces to existing applications. Van Rossum's vision of a small core language with a large standard library and easily extensible interpreter stemmed from his frustrations with ABC, which espoused the opposite approach. REACT: ReactJS is an open-source JavaScript library which is used for building user interfaces specifically for single page applications. It’s used for handling view layer for web and mobile apps. React also allows us to create reusable UI components. React was first created by Jordan Walke, a software engineer working for Facebook. React first deployed on Facebook’s newsfeed in 2011 and on Instagram.com in 2012. React allows developers to create large web applications which can change data, without reloading the page. The main purpose of React is to be fast, scalable, and simple. It works only on user interfaces in application. This corresponds to view in the MVC template. It can be used with a combination of other JavaScript libraries or frameworks, such as Angular JS in MVC.

Benefits of the Project

After Implementation of OBE system in Various Universities of Pakistan the Need of a Portal with strong Frameworks and a user-friendly environment is a must need in case to understand the mapping of CLOs and their assessments. Applications have been made but with a different approach in each institute. Main Purpose of this Portal is to provide a safe environment for every University that is following OBE system. Cloud Based portal will be easily accessible with a interface in accordance to the demands of every University. With This Portal all the faculty will be properly connected with each other with an easy approach in mapping and assessing CLOs and PLOs and Students having a clear view of the Goals achieved accordingly to OBE system.

A fully functional Web service that will provide main functionalities of a Portal through a cloud service using a efficient database techniques.
