The project comprises of a prototype of a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring device. Through this device, the blood glucose level can be measure without the need to draw some blood defying the traditional method of blood glucose monitoring i.e., through pricking the finger.Through this device continuous glucose monitoring will be made possible as there won't be need to prick the finger again and again which can lead to infections, psychological constraints in a human being. A lot of tech giants like Google, Apple and Samsung are also working on similar kind of technology where the glucose measurements can be as non-invasive as possible.
The aim of our project is to design a glucose monitoring device that has a convenient, flexible, and efficient method to monitor the glucose level in the blood. The patient will be able to know his/ her glucose level easily without feeling pain or being anxious about using any invasive materials. Moreover, the patient will be observing his/her glucose
level more frequently and he/ she will be aware of his/ her condition and its severity. The device will be attached to the patient's body and it will sense the blood glucose level without any physical interaction. The device will process the information that have been sensed and it will interpret it to the patient in a way that is easily observed.
Designing of a noninvasive glucose monitoring system. The designed circuit contains at the input an amplifier thath amplify the reflected signal, which is weaker than the transmitted signal. The amplified signal, then, get filtered by a BPF to eliminate the surrounding noises. After that, the signal is converted to DC voltage using the RF to transfer it to the microcontroller, which is the Arduino, since it accepts DC voltage only. The microcontroller processes the voltage and converts it to glucose level then displays it.
The impact of this project is huge in various aspects of any diabetes patient's life.
We have a prototype model for the non invasive measurement of blood glucose level which measures the blood glucose level upto an accuracy 80-85% when compared to the invasive glucometer measurements. The prototype has a lot of room for improvements like upgrading of microcontroller etc.
