Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes is a disease that is caused due to high blood sugar. According to WHO about 422 million diabetic people are living in this world out of which, 35 million are living in Pakistan. Long-term diabetes can lead to serious diseases like heart failure, renal failure, blindness and other conditions. With these shots there comes an issue that cannot be neglected is the pain from needle puncture, it discourages diabetic patients to monitor the blood glucose levels as frequently as recommended, which adversely affects the quality of their health. Most patients or their caretakers are unsure of how to deal with patients who have fear of needles hence making the process horrible for them. Not only this but another problem that arises with needle pricking is infection, which in a diabetic patient is a slow process to heal. The machine that we are planning on making is a non-invasive glucometer that can help in monitoring the glucose level without any needles
For this process, we will use lower Infrared rays or small electric beam of specific wavelength and frequency as a source of light through the transmitter. Then it strikes on the body of the patient and will receive at the other end through the receiver circuit along with its controlling circuit. The voltage produced by photodiode will be passed through an instrumentational amplifier as an instrumentational amplifier has CMRR is very high as compared to a common amplifier, secondly it amplifies very low voltage changes also and has a very low dc offset. The output of the instrumentational amplifier is fed to the microcontroller, a microcontroller will further process that voltage and using calibration it will convert it into blood glucose levels that will be displayed on the LCD display.
