We humans are always looking for new ways to communicate with our environment. For example: through touch, through speech, through gestures. Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI), also referred to as Mind Machine Interface (MMI) are devices capable of capturing brain activity. EEG based brain-controlled systems had initially found applications in military surveillance and biomedical services. Further research and work in this domain has enabled paralyzed people to control prosthetic arm with the help of their brain signals. It is for the first time that it is possible in human history to communicate directly using our brain. Here we are able to map the human brain activity and it can be used to communicate with technology around us. To make use of this technology to the fullest we controlled a quadcopter using our brain. With the ever-increasing usability of drones in this era, we have tried to incorporate BCI with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). In this paper, we discuss the utilization of EEG signals to manoeuvre a quadrotor drone using a brain-wave-enabled biosensor. One of the crucial tasks performed by this sensor is to assimilate incoming stimuli and analyze the cerebral signals to determine accurate results.
To make a drone that can fly using brai waves so that disabled people can also fly the drone.
The system uses Mindwave mobile as its main sensor to map brain activity and provide data to the microcontroller.
Microcontroller used is Arduino. The microcontroller has two functions, to take input from the sensor and give mapped output to the quadcopter. Microcontroller is responsible for varying speed and direction.
To establish Bluetooth communication between Mindwave and Arduino we used Bluetooth module.
To establish RF (radio frequency) communication between the transmitter and
receiver module of the quadcopter we used RF communication module.
For the quadcopter we used a quadcopter frame, BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motors, Blheli ESCs, Lithium polymer battery and fiber propellers
It will be beneficial for handicapped people using this technology they will be able to fly a drone without using their hands by using their brain waves.
Our final deliverable is a hardware which is a ddrone. The drone is made up of 4 BLDC Motors, 4 ESC frame KK215 Fly Controller Battery. This drone will be able to fly using human brain waves and for that we have used brain sensors.
