Project Objectives

To improvement in technology boost up in working punctualities with employ to the organization which will ultimately help to stabilize the economy of country with addition of a huge amount in revenue also use in homes for children monitoring and controlling. 

Data becomes useful only when it is presented clearly to the right audience. It is important for IT administrators and users to know about critical metrics as soon as they log in. A network dashboard should provide an at-a-glance overview of the current status of your network, with critical metrics from routers, switches, firewalls, servers, services, application, URLs, printer, UPS and other Infrastructure devices. Support for widgets to monitor the required specifics and real-time performance graphs can help administrators quickly troubleshoot problems and monitor devices remotely.

The 5 Levels of Network monitors:

Level 1 – Network mapping.

Level 2 – IP scanning.

Level 3 – Activity logging.

Level 4 – Finding the Point of Failure.

Level 5 – Automated operations.

    1. Software Architecture

The network monitor is divided into five major tasks, that are network mapping, IP scanning, activity logging, finding the point of failure and automating the decisions and regular reporting. In network mapping all the devices connected to the network will be listed and added in the list of under monitor devices. this process will be running continuously as new devices are expected to connect anytime. Second comes IP scanning. In this phase all the ips will be scanned to be categorized into categories that are

  1. Computers
  2. Handhelds
  3. Printers
  4. Cameras
  5. Servers (optional)

After this division, the devices will be monitored according to their categories. All the logs generated will then be recorded in text files and this is a continuous process. The fourth step is to find the point of failure. This step takes lot of research to implement. For starters, it is a post exploitation step. After the network is compromised, the algorithm must traverse back the logs to find where the failure happened. After all these steps are completed and ready to use, it is our plan to automate all these procedures without any human interference. Only reports will be generated for the it personals after the installation is done with all measures taken.

With emerging technology, the risk of threat for interconnected devices is increased exponentially. Big organizations are attacked on regular basis. It is very important for the IT professionals to find the point of failure. It is only possible if the activities we logged and records of all network activities are maintained properly. This is not possible without a dedicated network monitoring machine. We as a group of students planning to persue or careers in networking and cyber security want to integrate multiple programming, networking and security modules to create a system that is dedicated to one task i.e ‘Monitoring’.

The process of network monitoring and management is simplified and automated with the help of network monitoring software and network monitor tools . A network monitor system is essential to tackle network bottlenecks and performance woes which might have a negative impact on network performance. With the sudden spurt in enterprise network monitoring  and remote network   monitoring a wide range of network monitoring device and network monitoring solutions are available in in the market. An effective network management system will contain a built-in network monitor tool can help admins cut down on the workforce and automate basic troubleshooting techniques

A network interface monitor collects data related to performance, bandwidth (utilization), errors and discard rate. It can be used to resolve network performance issues, proactively monitor interfaces and get detailed real-time reports on utilization, traffic and various interface parameters. Interface monitoring tools provide a complete end-to-end monitoring of all the interfaces in the network.

System monitors various interface metrics like link speed, hop count, or time delay etc. Router metrics are used to make routing decisions by a router and is a part of the routing table. A router metric is typically based on information such as path length, bandwidth, load, hop count, path cost etc. Manual update of description for each and every interface in a network is a time-consuming process. system simplifies interface monitoring by automatically updating the description of metrics.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Final Deliverables will be stated as under:

1. A sleeky script running on a Raspberry pi connected to that network.

2. Workstations (more than one)

3. Operating systems running on end machines

4. Python 3 .hyper terminal

5. Speed and turn data output to the raspberry pi.

6. Linux with model training of log generation.
