This method is considered as the most helpful and productive method as it limits the use of artificial lighting. Moreover this method helps in saving the non-renewable resources of energy. Sunlight can be entered into the buildings through the help of windows, doors and skylights etc.
The individuals living in the urban areas are spending maximum hours of day inside the buildings where daylight is minimum and unfortunately, they are using artificial lights for lighting purpose during the day time. Studies revealed that the maximum use of artificial lights such as bulb and LED lights have the negative impact on human physical and mental health as it gives rise to aggression, anxiety and depression. Therefore, the natural sunlight is the demand of the human body for a better health. Moreover, it is considered that the increase use of artificial lights releases the greenhouse gases and these harmful gases are becoming the major threat to the environment. The use of renewable resource of light i.e. sunlight during the daytime can limit the release of harmful green gases. Therefore, the trend of constructing the sustainable buildings has increased in many countries. The purpose of the sustainable buildings is to lighten the building with sun light during the daytime and this limits the overall usage of artificial energy. The artificial energy consumption can be reduced to 50% to 80% by installing this method. This method can be implemented in buildings, offices, schools, shopping malls, tunnels and caves where maximum amount of energy is required.
This project aims to provide natural lighting inside buildings where sunlight cannot reach during the daytime. For this purpose set of reflecting glass will be automatically adjusted in such a way that the sunlight will focus on the required space irrespective of the position of the sun throughout the year and the buildings will be illuminated with the daylight. This can be very useful in tall buildings or in buildings where light is required only during day time such as offices schools etc. It can also be used in malls and shops where a lot of illumination is required. Moreover, using such phenomenon in buildings will limit the artificial lights requirement which will in return reduce the electrical energy consumptions. Other than it, natural sunlight is very essential for good health as it is a major source of Vitamin D in the human body, and the sunlight is used to kill many viruses and bacteria. So the implementation of this phenomenon will also be beneficial for human health and a healthy environment. In many countries, this project is already been implemented, but if the natural light phenomenon is implemented in Pakistan then most of the electrical consumption will be reduced and in the future, Pakistan will no longer face any shortage of electricity
Project ObjectivesThe project objectives are as follows:
- To design a sensor less sun tracking system that can detect the position of the sun automatically.
- In order to gather the sunlight, a concave mirror will be mounted over the hardware structure. This hardware structure will be operate with the help of the unipolar stepper motors
- Programing of the sun tracking system.
- The main aim is to focus the reflected light at a particular point. This focused light will be then entered into the bundle of the optical fibers.
- This bundle of optical fibers will be inserted inside a room. The gathered light will be spread through the help of the lamp design.
Light will be collected through of the help of solar collectors the gathered light will pass through the convex lense and then pass through optical fibers.. A lamp system would be designed that will help in illuminating the are by spreading the sunlight.
Benefits of the Project- Natural light throughout the day will limit the use of elctricity which would in return produce the clean environment.
- Natural Lighting is helpful for human health as it is the source of vitamin D and it also produces serotin which helps in reducing the depression and anxiety among humans.
- Indoor plantation concept is very common therefore natural light will help in photosynthesis process of indoor plants.
