MPPT Based SEPIC Converter Using Perturb and Observe Algorithm
Project Area of Specialization Shared EconomyProject SummaryIn renewable energy resources, photovoltaic based solar energy has an issue of not providing constant power due to variation in weather and temperature conditions. To overcome this issue maximum power point technique MPPT has been used. For this, a converter to step up, step down or keeping the voltage level according to load requirement is required. “Perturb and Observe” algorithm has been used in this work, which will draw maximum power from sunlight.
Project ObjectivesImplementation of SEPIC(single ended primary inductor converter) circuit.
MPPT control of PV system using perturb and observe algorithm.
To get High Efficiency.
Project Implementation MethodP&O Algorithm will identify the suitable duty ratio in which DC/DC SEPIC converter should be operated to maximize the output power.
It will Measure the power variation due to previous voltage and atmosphere change and keep PV voltage constant for next control period.
Measures the power variations and determines new PV voltage based on present and previous power variations
Benefits of the ProjectNormally Buck Boost Converters are used in DC systems to increase or decrease voltages but we need to attach a filter to minimize input current ripples. But in SEPIC no need to attach an extra filter to remove input current ripples.
Buck boot causes reversal of polarity but SEPIC does not.
There is a large electrical stress on components in cuk converters which may cause overheating or damages circuit.
