Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThe main purpose of this project is to reduce inconvenience of people due to traffic congestion by providing a feasible solution through product design that will work as a "defense mechanism" against the traffic congestion.
Research shows that every country is facing the traffic congestion problem and the rate of increase of the specific problem is increasing at quite a higher rate. this problem costs heavily to every country and the effect on individual s terrible (as it affects mental health of the one travelling on road).
the problem is vast, and people are in dire need of such a solution that helps to have a smooth flow of traffic and let people save their time and cut their extra cost of travelling.
I am designing such a product that will allow to use the existing road more efficiently. It is a common observation that many times, the flow of traffic is such that the traffic is only on one side (incoming) of the road and the other half (on going) is not occupied much. in such a case, the designed product will achieve the purpose of varying/extending the road width when and where it is required. The product will move from one place to another place according to requirement. the extension in road will help the traffic to flow smoothly thus getting rid of the incontinence caused by traffic congestion.
Project ObjectivesThe primary objective is to achieve a product which can safely vary the width of road, temporarily, according to the requirement (i.e. increase /decrease the width when desired).
Secondly, I want to utilize the existing resources at optimum level. I am focusing on making changes and improvements to existing resources (roads) instead of making new roads/infrastructure trough efficient methods to save time, energy and resources.
Project Implementation MethodPermission will be required from Ministry of traffic since the controlling body of the product will be traffic police. The product will be installed in the place of median strip or where the road barriers are already used.

Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe size of my prototype is 100 cm in length, 40 cm width, 82 cm height. The components I am using in my design are as follow:
