Project Summary

The shortage of electricity in Pakistan is a big problem due to this we cannot charge our cell phones.  Secondly, the user has to stand around a charging station to look after his cell phones and he wastes his time and thirdly, the mobile phones are being stolen. 

The purpose of this project is to provide security because mobile phones are being stolen so we designed the fingerprint locker to overcome the snatching of mobile phones. And shortage of electricity is a big problem in Pakistan due to this we use solar panel to charge the cell phones.

Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to provide a security for users. So, cell phones are not being stolen. For low power consumption and due to shortage of electricity we will use solar power energy to charge cell phones. 

Project Implementation Method

It comprises of three inputs and three outputs and all data will be stored in EPROM of micro controller.

Inputs:

1. Finger print sensor: It scans the finger print of the user. 

2. Keypad: it scans the pin code of the user.

3. Solar panel: It takes energy from the sun to charge the batteries.

Outputs:

1. LCD: All messages will be displayed on LCD.

2. Servo Motor: It rotates to open or close the locker.

3. LED indicators: It shows locker open or close red led shows locker closed and green shows locker open.
 

Benefits of the Project

Our proposed solution will reduce the electricity problem by using the solar panel to charge the cell phones and will also reduce the security problem in existing systems and that will provide high efficiency and security. This is optimal solution for protecting cell phones which are being stolen. Finger print and keypad are a perfect solution for these problem which provides high efficiency and accuracy. Finger print scanner will scan the finger prints of the users to ensure authentication. As our finger print consist of two categories.

1. Enrolling: In enrollment, the user enrolled his fingerprint by scanning the fingerprint sensor.

2. Matching: In matching the customer check that their finger matched or not by scanning the finger print sensor. In this project batteries will be charged through solar panel and that will produce the regulated voltage to charge cell phones. Everyone can use it easily and it is free of cost

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Hardware Environment:

The hardware consists of two major components; Arduino UNO development board driven by ATmega328p chip, Fingerprint reader, Keypad, Solar Panel and batteries.

1. Arduino UNO: The Arduino microcontroller development board is an open-source physical-computing platform that is based on a simple microcontroller board and a development environment for writing the software for the board.

2. Fingerprint scanner: There are various methods to identify and recognize the humans but in this era biometric technology are one of the most advanced technologies to identify and recognize the living person of different behavioral characteristics such as facial images, finger prints and voice recognition.

Software Environment: The Arduino adapted Processing language was used in the programming of the Arduino UNO development board. The logics programmed on the Arduino mega drive the hardware devices to realize the two basic functions of enrolment and verification.
