In the past blind use simple sticks through which they touches the thing in front of them with the end of the stick to understand if there is any stone in front of them but they were not able to save themselves from bigger accidents. This stick will help them to detect the obstacle in front of them it's size and distance. The stick also help find his stick if he mistakenly lost it somewhere.
This stick has a feature of button. Through this button in any emergency situation blind can message the concerned person for help. The family of blind can track the blind through this stick.
This stick will help blind reach his destination without anybody's help that means he can go to his institutes where he can learn whatever he wants and become a part of the society which can reduce inequality in a normal and a slightly differently born child.
Project Objectives- To design technology for visually impaired people that can detect obstacle and provide alternative routes for blind.
- To convey the message about obstacle or any water or fire in front of the blind through voice module/headphone.
- To help the blind person find his stick when he mistakenly lost it somewhere.
- With the function of GPS the blind can be tracked by his family.
- In any emergency cases he can sent a message to the concerned person for help.
We are using 5 sensors ultrasonic sensor, IR sensor, water sensor, fire sensor and ldr sensor. The programming is on arduino all the components will be attach to the stick.
We are using gps gsm module for security purposes. For tracking the blind and in any emergency the blind can contact his family due to sim inserted in gsm module.
The ultrasonic sensor calculate the distance and sends signal to the arduino. The arduino will inform the blind about the obstacle in headphone which is connected to the arduino.
RF module is added to the stick to find misplaced stick.
The water sensor will be attach to the stick at the end of the stick to understand the depth of water and tell the blind about it.
Benefits of the ProjectThere are numerous benefits of this project for the blinds to live their life more easily.
- It helps them moving here and there without anybody's help, to do their daily routine tasks without anybody's help
- Help blind detecting obstacle the size and the distance which will save them from accidents.
- This is easy to use as we are using headphone so the voice will be clearly understand by blind.
- This is cheap as we are using headphone so to use this stick the blind don't need any hard training which will save money and time.
- This will provide security to the blind he can message his family or call his family in any emergency cases by just clicking on the switch/button placed on stick.
- It is lightweight.
The microcontroller based smart stick for blind that uses sensors technology to alert the blind about obstacle and help them in movement without anybody's help. The blind can sense objects and receive feedback in the form of sound. The blind can find his stick with RF module. The gps gsm module will provide security to the blind.
