Project Summary

A LOW COST ANDROID BASED SMART WHITEBOARD is a two-way mirror with an electronic display behind the glass. The display can show the viewer different kinds of information in the form of widgets, such as weather, time, date,phone call informations and news updates A micro camera is also interfaced with the smart board to enhane its use in Smart security systems.With Smart Mirror system, users can manage their daily activities at ease as well as solving many problems in managing some house chores. This product would be useful for busy individuals that want to multitask and stay informed while on the go. Instead of constantly pulling out a device, one could get informed while finishing daily grooming tasks. Internet of things is the concept that will be used too .IOT is known for its advantage that can help simplify people's everyday routine. A prototype is built to evaluate and deliver feedback. Improvements will be made to enhance the prototype, catering to user’s satisfaction .The proposed system is designed using Raspberry Pi,Raspberry Pi compatible touch screen and microphone as hardware components and Python for programming. The proposed system can accept 3 modes of input commands namely Voice, Touch and Mobile commands.we present  the design
of a futuristic mirror/whiteboard that offers simplified
and customisable services to the office/classroom/home environment,ensuring convenience in accessing these services with the slightest possible user intervention.Now a days, smart mirror are considered as time efficient
focused device. It has automated ON/OFF system by sensing the presence of user.

The project will be later extended by including some  advanced features like face detection which enable its use in security vigilance system by using a camera ( if placed on the front door of the entrance) as well as smart dressing mirror

Project Objectives

  • Designing a hardware based Smart board using raspberry pi with Python as a programming language, able to show schedules,weather,time, to-do-list, and other features in real time
  • To analyse its effectiveness for commercial use and make it as cost effective as possible
  • To polish the project by adding some add ons, like Alexa interaction, touch sensing and voice contro letc
  • to enable its application in smart security vigilance system and smart dressing mirror by interfacing pi camera

Project Implementation Method

For achieving above objectives,  we have devised following tasks;

  1. Study the hardware and market availablity of smart boards particularly in pakistan.
  2. Implement the hardware and develop python code,GUI interface and gadgets using adobe photoshop
  3. Working on calendar,scheduling,to-do-list and location view. Work on some extra addons .
  4. Implementing Pi camera with the board as a security system.
  5. Implementing voice control and alexa interface with raspberry pi
  6.  Cost analysis and polishing design by addons.

The benefits of the project is summarized below:

  • This project will directly benefit Teachers,students,doctorsmanagers and household :
  • With Smart board/mirror system, users can manage their daily activities at ease as well as solving many problems in managing some house chores. This product would be useful for busy individuals that want to multitask and stay informed while on the go
  • The project will be later extended by including some  advanced features like face detection which enable its use in security vigilance system by using a camera ( if placed on the front door of the entrance) as well as smart dressing mirror
  • The proposed system can accept 3 modes of input commands namely Voice, Touch and Mobile command
  • The proposed design is lightweight and environment friendly
  • The project is cost effective ie under the rangle of common people as per the advantages it give to the users
  • The project is the future of smart world, it can be extended to any extent in future as per requirements by adding more features

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable will be a Hardware based smart ld interactive screen under a glass screen. Wireless acessories like keyboard and mouse will be used. Pi camera will also be interfaced with it. Wireless module, sonoff switch will also be used to do the need full. A gui based front end will be on the smart interactive board. The board will accept three inputs ie voice, text and touch.
